THe bike has been riden all summer daily, until two weeks ago since it has sat. I went to go ride afew nights ago and my 77 550k wouldn't start. I checked fuel, spark and compression. I am not getting fuel. I topped off the tank. I came back out a while later to find gas on the ground and my k&n filters (4 of them) soaked in gas. Can anyone help or suggest anything? Thanks Much. Matt

+1 for float valve stuck open. Whip the plugs out to make sure no fuel has got into the cylinders and check the engine oil....

Or...

Is it an automatic fuel tap (petcock for you yanks I think) or manual? It could be stuck open which has let all the fuel flow through or if it's manual, someone forgot to turn it off...

A friend told me to drain the carbs. so, did that and the carb bowls 2,3,4 had fuel flowing and carb 1 had no fuel draining out. He told me to have the carbs gone through this winter. They had been overhauled at the begginning of the summer, the previous owner had the reciept for it.
