Why?

It's right next to a load of cars, and it's hardly causing an obstruction, is it?

From the look of the left brake lever it looks like it's been knocked over, and someones probably nicked the tax disk and attempted to nick the plate Laughing

And by the looks of it you didn't even get off of your bike to take the picture Wink

Laughing that's funny though. I didn't think bikes could be clamped like this? It doesn't look like the bike is actually secured to it... as in it still looks like two people strong enough could still just pick up the ped and walk away with it?

Maybe it was nicked and its been clamped to stop it being nicked again before it gets recovered. That clamp doesn't look too secure though.

Quite possibly.

Might explain the lack of L-Plates.

Looks like some paper under the seat. If you didn't get off your bike I guess you've no idea what that'd be about then.

If a commercial clamp I'd expect it to have the owner/company info on it. How else can they prove it's theirs when it's removed?

Thumbs Up

Laughing Fools.

The scoot is not clamped, clamping is illegal in Scotland.

Obviously it is the owners own security, hence the ground bolt

I wonder what that bit of paper on the seat is for then. Maybe its a kind reminder to leave the bottle of Stella there.

Erm, what ground bolt? All I see is the Oxford Monster style pin padlock that the chain is passed through.

If it is security for the scooter, it would be way more effective chained to something and through something more substantial that the exhaust.

Cheers

It's in scotland, clamping and demanding a release fee is ilegal.

Therefore it either:
1) Belongs to the owner.
2) Belongs to the DVLA and the vehicle is untaxed.
3) Has been put on by the landowner and will have to be removed on request at no charge.
4) Is a practical joke being played on a young lad working at the building site.

I strongly suspect the latter.

Should be easy to sneak across the border, since the Romans left security been useless Wink Very Happy

My guess is; It is clamped because of its dodgy number plate.

Actually I'd clamp it for dodgy race decals and having only overtaking mirror. Mr. Green
If you go there again. don't forget to read the message in the bottle Laughing

My bike has one mirror Laughing

Yeah, weather is pretty crappy and i don't fancy pushing the CG to 50 on the bypass to get up there Laughing

Might go tomorrow if i can be bothered sticking my leathers on.

And the message in the bottle consisted of a strange yellow-brown coloured liquid, a random dog seemed to be quite interested in it Thumbs Up

I also have just my right mirror. Legally you don't need mirrors at all, but that becomes a pain in the neck very quickly.

its a bit fackin steep if you ask me, a £30 fine would have put me off enough to not park there again!

If I got clamped, I'd hire a stihlsaw and get someone else wearing a balaclava to cut it off for me in front of witnesses.

Not really a grey area. He was sounding off about something he knows nothing about. Coppers do this a lot to see if you look guilty about it. If you look guilty enough, they give you a bollocking. If you look at them askance like they are talking out of their arse, the drop the matter. There is no requirement for mirrors to be fitted to a motorcycle.
