New Biker - Aiming for 125cc

Hey everyone,

Im new to biking and would like to ask for some advice:

I've seen alot of chat about the 'Mod 1' and 'Mod 2', am I required to take these tests along with the CBT to ride a 125cc bike?

Nope, all you require to ride a 125 is a provisional licence, the CBT and to be of the right age.

Yeh 17+ for 125cc, do the CBT then you can ride a 125 on L Plates. Though bear in mind the CBT certificate is only valid for 2 years, so if you don't go onto pass your theory and practical tests within 2 years you have to re-do the CBT to still be legal.

As the above posters have said all you need to ride a 125cc is a CBT. The Mod 1 & Mod 2 you have been seeing around is the governments new bike test however it doesn't apply to you unless you wish to get a full license.

So now that's cleared up I have another question:

Are there any reliability issues with the Aprilia RS125? (As this is the 125cc bike I am aiming to get)

Aprilia RS's tend to have a few reliability issues but then if you have one that is maintained well you should be ok (Stand to be corrected on this) and because they are a 2-stroke you have to rebuild them every 9000 miles (stand to be corrected on this too). 4 stroke 125's tend to be more reliable but then people argue that a well maintained 2 stroke is just as reliable.
