I spotted some Quad 21L's on Gumtree for £200 ono. I thought, "hmm, that'll do nicely chappie". Arranged to go see them, they're only five minutes up the road.

Turns out they're 22L's and since I didn't haggle with the guy he gave me some Wireworld Oasis 5 cable worth £230 roughly..

Gumtree Win yet again! Thumbs Up

(Just so excited I had to share)
Very Happy

A speaker is a speaker in my book. All sound the same unless you compare them side by side.

That's like saying a Microphone is a Microphone.

Or that a 2t is like a 2t (RS compared to Reiju Matrix)

You're wrong. Razz

I thought, looking at the title, an acceptable female specimen had finally replied to his ad in the dating section.

Then I read the innards and thought: "Bike boots/trousers/or something? Won't 22L's be to big if you're a 21L?"

Anyone else have some epic gumtree wins?

I did hear about the scam people were doing. Advertising a car with a photo of someone elses parked in their drive and asking cash at a silly low price. Meeting the prospective buyer, punching his head in and taking his dough.

I was looking for tips for my own ad...

I heard about that scam on Radio 2. Some of the folk that comment on that show are a bit dim... They were blaming it on the internet in general and gumtree in particular which is asinine. You could do exactly the same scam via the newspaper or an ad in the local shop.

The self-righteous cocks were also accusing the people who answered the ad's as being greedy and dim. The ad's were pretty normal, the cars were priced reasonably, (why would scammers deliberately lose money by advertising a car for less than it was worth, folk are going to look at it anyway?)

That said, turning up with an envelope stuffed with cash is a bit fool-hardy, I've done it twice, admittedly once on my own but the second time I took a brawny friend (the seller was in Glasgow so... Wink )

Thumbs Up

Silly buggers. I came up with this same scam for an English class project at school decades ago, but instead using the Thames Valley Trader.

My teacher casually dismissed it, saying it wouldn't work, for some daft reason.

Think I should track him down now and show him I was right all along.

^ Yup Quad gear has always been teasing me from the background. Always had B&W, Arcam and some of the cheaper Linn products. I gave it all up for a headphone set up so I'm getting back into it again. Need a new preamp & some monoblocks and a CD player now Laughing

Just got lost in Ca Ira there, sounding awesome! Mr. Green

You could have a loan if there's still no interest in your gumtree dating ad...
