you got an EC ... what is the difference between that and a Pampera? - or are they actually 2 names for the same bike?

Yes I could google but more talkative (and lazy Wink) to ask!!

Oh and pre-mix IS a fag over autolube! Razz

Pamp is for short people and th engine is grunty rather than revvy. Good for long distance trials, or enduros for short people, but the EC is definitely a better bike.

It is a tiny hassle adding oil when you fill up but it's much less of a hassle than when your oil pump decides to pack up Wink

I have three petrol cans which this started off from i use to motocross, all you do is premix them into the cans.. 5 min job, when one or two are empty just fill them back up

keeps the premix cycle flowing & the tank on the bike Thumbs Up

It is a fag as A: you need to carry a bottle of 2-smoke oil. and B you need something to measure it at the pump!! ... the marks on the side are hardly an accurate measure ... you need to also calculate how much you need depending on how much went in the tank ... not massively hard sums, but again, you need an accurate measure to get it 'right' ...

Having jerry cans full of the stuff is no use to you on a days green laning!! Wink

Again, the bottle carrying it is also a measuring bottle, so not a massive incovenience. For a day's laning I take a small bottle of 300ml, this gives me enough to mix with 15 litres of fuel. The marks on the bottle are accurate enough.

To work out how much to put in is very easy - the amount of petrol in millilitres/50 - or if you have an iPhone, there's an app for that Wink

Anyway, let's not derail this thread too much.

It's a trials engine in a low enduro frame.
It has it's uses, but I wouldn't recommend one unless height is a big issue for you.

As above, a small bottle (babies milk bottles often used) with graduations marked off in litres of petrol makes it hardly any more hassle to use premix - and you get a lot more fun Very Happy.

Can you get 300ml bottles?!?!? or do you mean you bought a little measure bottle 'specially?

At 50:1 the sums are easy i.e. 20ml/L, so that isn't an issue .. but it is the measuring with some degree of accuracy that is the irritation ... so you put in 6.3l and you need to measure 126ml .... I'd want something with 10ml graduations before I was happy ... i.e. I'd measure between the 120 and 130 marks and go for that, or lets be honest, I'd prolly just put 130ml in in that instance ... Wink

Sure it is not insurmountable problem ... I could even make/take my own little measuring pot (like I have for all my pre-mix engines) to get it a bit more accurate. But point is, whichever way you look at it, it IS more of a fag than NOT having to measure it at all (i.e. oil injected). Wink

Yes, it is more hassle, but worth it to not have to worry about a faulty oil pump.

You can get about 60 miles to a tank, according to the former owner of mine. I never rode it that far to find out.

But in all seriousness, how often do oil pumps fail?!!? Wink I'd guess it is much more probable to have non oil related engine failure!! They are 2-strokes after all ... also there is an argument that an oil pump is better for the engine on the overrun ...

I do the best part of that getting to where I need to go to use it!! Razz

One of the lads that rides with us has a Pamp (Bendys old one).
Great little bike ... looks ok .... and has all the power we need at our level or riding.
BUT, dont get one if you are over 5 foot 5 (its a short persons bike and suffers from being such).

On the premix front .... once you have worked out your measurements, bottles and carrying methods. ... all of which take less time and thought than trying to buckle up and pair of boots ..... then its no fuss at all.
Even if you have start calculating 'en route' ... it doesnt matter if you get it slightly wrong .... evidence for this is if you search for the mix ratio for your bike ........ dependent on what forum / manufacturer details / riders advice you find, it can vary from say 35:1 to 45:1 !!
Its no fuss at all .... and anyone that finds it all a bit too much probably wont also like all that horrible mud and smelly water we ride through Smile

If its a short bike then I deffo don't want it, one of the problems I have with the KLR is the lack of ground clearance! It is especially notable when bouncing over whoops and with the deep jeep ruts where my pegs are in the rut too giving me minimal room for error! Shocked

See it is always best to ask the masses before buying!! Thumbs Up

The ground clearance is poor .. and he has already started to complain that the pegs are grounding out.

Unsure if I have mentioned this before .... but have you thought of a BLOODY WR
