Im doing the A2 at the moment- have passed my module one and got my module two booked in a couple weeks.
These are the options I have looked in to- (hope they relate to you too lol)
1.I have looked into getting a bike that wont need restricting but personally I think there arent many around that will be comfortable for my hour plus trip to uni... after all I do want one that can get up to speed on a dual carriageway.
2. Next option was a 500cc, such as the kawasaki er5 or suzuki gs 500 and getting it restricted.
3. Getting a 600/650 bandit/ hornet and restricting it.
Im going to go for option 3, I have spoke to the guy who done the training and its what he would recommend too. Basically because I'll be going from a 125 to a 33 bhp restriction and then up to the 70+ (guessing here) bhp that the bandit is naturally. So its going to be like having a new bike in two years time
Whatever you decide, good luck! |

Well im quite happy with my GS500, semi bullet proof, want more bullet proof, but a honda cb250
You wanna look cool, but deep down know you are a loser there is the ninja 250..
Good bike, pretty nippy, but you will get bored.
Best to buy a 5/600 and get it restricted.
I recommend 500, just done a quote for the CBR600FY...came out at £415 TPFT, where as my GS500 is £106 TPFT.
Cheaper to fix if dropped aswell.
Im sure you will find a bike GS500... that will suit you well |

Honda Bros 400
Right up to the 33bhp limit, pretty nippy acceleration (probably quicker than a lot of restricted bikes) 90 mph top end, really fun handling and Honda build quality
They're quite cheap but hard to find. Can't think of a better bike on a restricted licence, I had one when I wasn't restricted and I still regret selling it ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Depends what you want it for, do you want it for travelling around town while at uni, or do you want it just to get there and back? I've had a cb250rs which is good around town as it's pretty small and also fairly good on motorways and dual carriageway commutes as it's comfy and will cruise at 80mph.
Also it depends what sort of bike you're after. For a sports bike, the cbr is great, but also a vfr or even a fzr250/400, I don't know too much about tourers or cruisers so others will have to comment on them. Also how much do you want to spend? You can pick up a decent cbr or vfr for under a grand these days so they aren't too expensive. |
Well I'm going to Durham uni with any luck, which is small enough not to require a bike to get around, but I intend to do a fair bit of long distance travel (mostly to my girlfriend's place, 50 odd miles away).
My current bike does 60 tops- I've got it up to 75 down a hill with the wind behind me, but I don't think that counts. I'd prefer something bigger with better pillion capabilities, better tyres and a higher top speed.
I'm hoping to get around £1500 for my YBR (59 reg) but that may be a bit optimistic. In any case, a grand is a number I can work with easily. I tend to go for more retro naked style bikes, but I'm open minded and if I see a sports bike I like I'm not going to have any prejudices. ____________________ guyal |

Oh sweet. I love this bike. I had considered it before. The only issues are that it looks expensive, and I'm sure I read somewhere that it is higher than 33bhp- are you sure that it's under?
Other than that, I think this may be the one..
Thankyou ____________________ guyal |

This relates very well to me. Thanks. The only issue that I have is the cost of getting a bike restricted, and that I've heard people claim unrestricted bikes can be faster. I'm still considering it though.
Good luck with your bandit, if you end up with it. I love the look of that bike. ____________________ guyal |

A local ferret welfare group was at a charity dog walk, strange I know. Had a little handle of one and was shocked at how harsh their fur was and how large their teeth are.
