Had my X-lite X-801RR helmet for about 3 months now but my ipod headphones don't fare to well in the ear spaces as they just tend to fall out as i do my head/mirror checks etc..so..

i was thinking, is there anyone who has mounted any headphones inside there helmets permenantly..?

im not worried whether its legal or not..thats my issue when/if anything happens BUT was looking at headphones, like the ones you'd use with a pc (full ear cups) cut the plastic around the headpiece off and mount just the ear pods within the helmet with the wire glued from one ear to another under the upholstry inside the helmet?

i could mount the wire for the connection to the mp3 player/tom tom etc within the hemlet and wrap it in a self retracting spindle thingy..(not very technical there, apologies!)

whats people think? i like listening to music on long journeys..im talking newcastle to london! which i do quite often, and without my music, although not so loud i cannot hear road traffic keeps me from crying in my helmet...!

cheers fella's Thumbs Up

I bought the Tescos value flat headphones that hook behind your ears. They are perfect for my helmet as they act like mini speakers squashed against the helmet and my whole ear. The bit of foam padding helps block out a little of bit of traffic noise too. You could always glue a pair of these in place but they are so cheap I recommend just using them.

What you are really wanting though is proper expensive in ear ear plugs.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Flat helmet speakers do the trick just lovely - look at Autocom to see what I mean, then find something similar down your local Maplin.

Can't remember where I was looking, but I seen some on a website for £20 I do believe, just a flat earphone that sticks into the inside of the helmet, normal earphones I find tend to hurt my ears after a while.

sennheisser cx-500 do the job very well. never fall out of my ears.
they are a decent inner earphone, so they also double up as earplugs so you don't come out deaf after riding long fast motorway journeys.
