Hey guys, haven't been on in absolutely ages, but i previously posted the same topic a while ago, and will be taking my theory soon and booking my mod 1 and 2 Very Happy

I'm still definitely all set and ready for a Bandit Thumbs Up had a look at Hornets and SV's, but the Bandit just really did it for me, so i'm sticking to it. Hopefully in the next few months i'll get everything out of the way, pass with flying colours and concentrate on getting a Bandit for a good price in good condition, then it's all about getting it on the road and insuring it.

In time i'm thinking of selling my 125, depending on financial situations.

One of my best mates is still on his 50 scooter, and he's all up for getting a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, which will be an absolutely huge step, "for mankind" Laughing

I'm not all up for the speed and looks, i mean Ninjas are very nice bikes, but the Bandit just does it for me Very Happy

Any advice on revising for the theory and getting ready for mod 1 and 2?

Thanks for reading guys, sorry for yabbering on, can't wait to be a true biker without the L plate Thumbs Up

Get one of those cd's that has all the questions and mock exams on it , I got one and every single question on the exam was on that cd. Just memorise it for a slightly hollow victory Laughing And good luck for your practicals, I took the old style test so cant give you any advice on the new one Wink

As imanupstart said, one of the official cd's is a really good idea- it covers every single question you will be asked and all of the hazard perception videos too. Theres a few free ones online- but the cd gives you the chance to review weaker areas and work on them.

Module one is easy as long as you concentrate! But not too hard lol The key to it is really knowing the control of your bike- ideally you might be able to practice around a few cones before you do your test which is a great warm up to get back that clutch control.
If your doing it on a 125, give it sh!t coming around that corner, its the only way your get the speed up. However, if your on a bigger bike, dont go stupidly fast around the swerve- you'll just knock a cone over.

Im waiting for my module 2 now, but make sure you know your way around the bike I think and the rest is just common road sense- the examiner wants to see that your safe not that your the best rider in the world. Make sure you do all your checks, if you do make a mistake- carry on, it might not have been as bad as you thought. Finally, make sure theres no oncoming traffic when you pull out etc and that your not too close to other road users.

Hope all of this helps= good luck! Smile

module 1 & 2. even though i didn't take this version it still applies. lifesavers - can't do enough of them. every time you change road position. i.e moving off from stand still, changing lanes etc etc.

also make sure you can stop that bike as quick as possible without locking them wheels using both your front brake AND back brake AND the engine. clutch needs to be pulled in just before you stop.

as always the u-turn. should be able to do it without thinking.

Thanks so much for the advice guys, i'm definitely going to grab myself a theory test CD, DSA approved, so it contains proper questions that are in the test. I've picked up a book from the Library, a Haynes, "Learn To Ride" book, with all theory test questions in and the highway code, that's a little help, but its for the 2007 theory test, so thing may have changed.

I'm also going up and down my road, i was cruising at 34mph and did and emergency stop just in front of a manhole cover, which went really well, so i'm sure i can do it at 32mph atleast. U-turns i'll be practicing soon, and i'm starting to use lifesavers ALL the time now, to get in a habit, where ever i am, what ever i'm doing, i never miss out a lifesaver when i'm on my bike.

It's going to be great being able to do it on my bike, because i'll be use to the bike, the gears, the clutch control, the biting point and handling, so it's looking positive guys Thumbs Up

I'll update you all when i get my theory booked and mod 1, once i pass both of them i'll post it up guys, so thanks again for all the tips, can't wait to hit the road L plateless Wink

Ride safe everyone Thumbs Up

Sounds good mate, let us know how you get on yeah? U-Turns can be tricky but just find yourself a bit of car park or whatever and do circles over and over again, then you can just get tighter and tighter untill you can do full lock Smile

Tis what i did anyways

All the best for your test. It can be done though taking that jump. SomersetScratcher/JonB managed to hop from a piaggio Zip50 to a Bandit600S back in the day when he was 17!
