I havnt had a board on me since 2007, and prior to that i'd had one on pretty constantly both as a job and for fun since i was 13.

so now im thinking enough is enough, and i've asked to get my snowboarding instructors job back. got my technical assesment on the 12th, and im going to be shit.

anyway, who else does this sort of shit? i've got to dig out all my old stuff and will basically have to teach myself again.

post your vehicles!

No decent pics of my board but a few of local range which is the Cairngorm's which is literally a 30 min drive away. Smile

Not anymore.

Don't think I have any pics of my board on this computer unfortunately.

Had a Rome Anthem, with Drake bindings.

Vans boots.

Was awesome for free ride, lacking in flex for the freestyle stuff(which I wasn't great at anyway, it's all about the big powder, and big jumps rather than the snow park)......

I miss it occasionally.

No point in getting a set up until you're competant IMO, as rental kit is ok, and you may not enjoy it.

Go to Xscape/Tamworth Snowdome for a lesson to see if you enjoy it first. Thumbs Up

(A good set up is circa £300 for the board, and £200 for bindings, depends on what you want to get though, anywhere from £60-200 for boots, then you have the jacket, gloves, etc. etc. to get too.)

my Millennium 3 board was £180 with bindings, but that was cheap shit to trash on the dry slope.

cheap boots will probably be about £50.

something decent will set you back a bit though. i paid £130 for my burton custom bindings (the green ones) and about £250 for the board theyre on, and about £120 for vans boa boots. i got instructors discount at the shop i bought all this from though, so no idea what it would cost RRP. plus got mates rates for being mates with the owner. doesnt seem too cheap now, but go back to 2006-7 when i bought the stuff and it was brand new stock.

thats new prices. 2nd hand is pretty cheap for your own gear.

as far as learning goes, once you can get a carve on, you dont really need lessons, its all self teaching from there.

I remember when I was riding I paid £180 for Vans Fargo Boa boots, although this was back in 2003/4 ish.

yeah, just edited it for reasons of cheapness.

my boots are vans boa encore, not fargo.

I'm currently riding a Burton Clash circa 2006 Shocked

Done 4 seasons on it and should have changed her up ages ago but she's been good to me... must have spent more in P-Tex than the board is worth but she's my first.

Looking on getting one of the new Solomons with the rocker system taken from the skate banana.

Here are a few photo's from previous seasons!!

I started boarding last year when I got a job at an artificial ski slope (still there now) so I've only ever boarded on the permasnow stuff. I'd love to go out and board on some real snow but I can't afford it this year with loads of other stuff going on and clearing debt etc. Someone at work gave me an old snowboard for doing something to his bike, I have no idea about anything technical with snowboarding though, all I know is it's red and has a picture of an armadillo on it Laughing I just use the hire boots in work and my bindings are crapola but it's all fun.

Some pics of me on the slope at work:

Nah I work up in Llandudno, I was just curious as to wether it was JNLL you worked at. No idea who had the board before the guy in work (Chris Farrell) had it but I know it's old and has seen a fair few owners!

No pics as the board is in Spain and I'm in the UK.
It's a lovely Forum Destroyer with Burton Custom Bindings and Burton boots (can't remember the name of the model)
I absolutely love snowboarding but only do it once a year cause I can't afford more than that...
