Right now i have 2 jobs and i work about 10h everyday, trying to get enough money to buy an R6. But i was just wondering, would it really be too much?

I have ridden my NSR for nearly 2 years, motorcycle trials for 4 years, and my dads CBR600F every now and then (illegally :/ )

Would I be able to control this little lovely piece of machinery or would it get out of my hands? Is there a huge difference between, lets say a -95 CBR600F and a -00 R6 handling/power/weight wise?

thats all Smile

As long as you take it easy don't see why not, considering your experience.

Yes.

I believe the R6 is around 15~20bhp up on the CBR and its power delivery will be much more peaky. The handling will also be far sharper, as will the brakes and the seating position.

I had my 125 for 12 months before I did my test. I Chose not to get a 400cc as I knew I'd want to get a 600cc within a few months.

You've got 2 years under you're belt, as long as you don't let the power go to your head and take it easy for a few weeks/months then you'll be fine!

disclaimer - this is not a guarantee, if you do act like a hoon and something happens it's you're own fault! Wink

An R6 would be fine, but ZX6Rs are better Wink Laughing Thumbs Up

I went from an NS125R to a 2000 CBR 600 without any problems.

As long as you take it easy you'll be fine. Though I wouldn't recommend an R6 for road use.

But thats my opinion.

This is probably not on the same scale but I came from an MBK Stunt 50 scooter to a Kawasaki ER-5 and I'm still here albeit riding a GS500E Laughing

As the rest have said take it easy and ride with you OWN abilities.

When I had my ER-5 I was trying to impress too much (after all a 17 year old on a 500cc was rare in this area!) And ended up binning the ER-5 in a Car Park 3 weeks into my ownership, and also dropping the heavy heap of crap whilest doing a U'y Right out side Old Trafford on Sir Matt Busby Way!

If your hearts set on an R6 then go for it, just go back to where you took your test when you get your new bike and ask for a few lessons.
My instructor was glad to do this when I did it on my bike after the ER-5 (A GS500EW) It gave me confidence, and gave me an insight on how the 500 differs from the 125 I learned on!

Hope that helps.

Craig

thank you for the responses!

Why dont you recommend the R6 for road use?

All im worried about is the power and power delivery ie. if i sneeze will it climb up to a tree or something Smile I think I'll be fine if Im VERY gentle with my right wrist for the first few minutes Laughing

I don't like the riding position myself for anything but all out thrashing...
Last time I rode an r6 on the road I looked down and realised I was at 14k rpm in 6th. Pushing it properly on the road all the time /will/ lead to you loosing your licence sooner or later.

Other don't mind the postion and use it daily however.

Providing you can control yourself and take it easy for a while you should be ok. It might be worth considering getting a cheap 400 or similar for a bit first; about £1000 and you won't loose much money when you come to sell it. You're also learning to thrash a bike that won't kick so much if you get it wrong.

Your just jealous, I don't know what bike you have, but I wouldn't mind betting it's old and tatty, or something relatively cheap.

What bike do you have?

Exactly, this 100% backs up my point, everyone who disses R6 usually has a cheap bike or doesn't have one at all.

No offence, but how can you comment on a bike when you don't even have a bike yourself at all.

No offence intended though mate Thumbs Up

well i went from a nsr to a zx6r, i just took it easy for a while....to be honest the first thing to scare me were the brakes Laughing

but i did find the speeds and the power a little overwelming, about 3 days after i bought it i took it to santa pod with the usual bcf crowd......and it actually helped, because by the end of the day, the power wasn't an issue anymore.

So just move at you own pace mate...at the end of the day, your the guy twisting the throttle Thumbs Up

Yeh sorry, my post was meant entirely as a joke. I never knew R6 riders were considered tarts often untill I came to these forums. Every post about an R6 seems to be followed with some "tart" comments. Thought I'd jump on the wagon in a comical way, we all know an R6 is one of the best sports 600's.

Liar

Thundercats, are very good, but they are sport tourers.

R6s are out-and-out sports bikes...form follows function im afraid.

R6s perform better in all areas, speed, handling, brakes. On the "tarts" issue, R6s aren't "tarts" bikes, its just yamsr6 that lets the team down, by adding loads of add-ons .joke Laughing . there is nothing wrong with that though, as long as you don't go OTT.

If the riders were such tarts, we wouldn't see them get knee down, of pop wheelies. They would have an inch of chicken strip and ride slower than my nissan micra 1.0 goes.

I think people dont realise how good r6 really are, they look at the exterior and see a pretty bike and think "tart", not the potential growling beast inside...

Not everyone, my bike wasn't exactly cheap and I still "diss" as you put it the R6, I'll do it again too, you'll see. Twisted Evil
