Woke up this morning to find a lovely package from the postman containing many lovely goods such as this:

I can see why they get rave reviews, the quality is superb!

Then the nice postman chap somehow managed to bring me this on the back of his bike, quite how he done it I'll never know... Wink

Now there's been a few topics on running a new bike in recently and I took the 'controversial' MotoTune route. I don't know what the long term effects will be [if any] but I didn't have the patience to sit below 4000 RPM for 1000km.

As for the bike, it is unbelievable! I've never ridden a bike that handles so well, it's a cliche, but it handles like it is on rails. This is my first twin and gear selection is taking some getting used to as is the weight on my wrists, but it's worth it. Can't wait to take it on the track now... Cool

You live in Appley Bridge? I've seen an older Ducati parked on a drive down there... I'm from Standish myself plus I remember an older red Ducati over taking me near crow orchard BP few month ago.

No I live in Crosby, but Parbold/Standish/Bickerstaffe etc all form part of my favourite local route. Very Happy

As I understand it the way that have chosen to 'run' the bike in will result in a noticeable increase in power as the piston rings etc will bed in very quickly,
unfortunately the down side to this method is that engine components will begin to wear immediately at an faster rate once the bike is run in..
As opposed to with a reserved run in method which would result in a less powerful engine with improved longevity.

In short I would summarise that unless you are going to be continually thrashing the bollocks off of this bike, as in "every ride could be your last" then it's probably better to calm down initially and take it easy. HTH Thumbs Up

Usually new things have about 7 miles on them.

A quick google suggests that garages can reset the milage after a pdi. (Don't know how true that is).
