Under normal conditions the clutch seems fine.

When shifting up at high rpm, after releasing the clutch and getting back hard on the gas, there is some noticeable slip (and no acceleration) before the clutch 'bites' and the bike resumes accelerating with no further slippage.

When shifting up without using the clutch and getting back hard on the gas there is no obvious slipping and the bike accelerates immediately.

When setting off normally the clutch does sometimes engage with a slight clunk/slight judder, but doesn't slip.

In the past I have filed the basket fingers smooth and checked the plates & springs for wear. I didn't check for plate warp-age.
Although it gave an improvement in clutch feel, the slip-then-bite problem has never really gone away.

Is this likely to still be the basket causing a slow engagement or a warped clutch plate 'biting' slowly?

EDIT: I've just noticed the YBR clutch thread. This is not quite the same issue although it is a Yamaha and clutch baskets are expensive.

Hi MC
I have the yammy with the slight problem, and during this week i rode the bike very civilized without any thrashing and noticed my clutch juddery slip hardly happened just the small litt kick type thing ive felt on other ybr`s when starting off plus i slipped the clutch a little more, so i will go a bit quicker this week and carry on slipping the clutch more rather than kinda dumping it slowly and see how it goes, but i still think its temperiture related. However im not impressed with yamaha build and doubt i will risk my cash on another when i pass my test.

Mark

Are you using the correct grade of oil?

The springs were the correct length when I measured them and I have used the correct oil.
