This is probably old news / repost.

I was looking for the cost of the MOT and noticed here that it's now £29.20.
I also see there's new checks on registration plates...

do not have a background overprinted or shadowed with text e.g. vehicle manufacturer name

do not have a non-reflective border wider than permitted or positioned too close to the characters;

have the correct background and character i.e. white on the front and yellow on the rear, both with black characters for vehicles first used on or after 1 January 1973;...

Suspect aimed at the chav corsas and the like.
No mention on size etc. or if it fits legal guidelines Confused Thinking

i'm guessing that it should be a standard plate on when it goes in for the mot, just keep your standard plate and put a show plate on for everyday use

i've been plate swapping on my bike and car for years, i thought it was the norm for mot to go back to legal then swap once you get the cert.

Took my last bike for its MOT and had put the legal plate back on. Bike had had a tail chop and was obvious that it wasn't the plate that usually resided there. The tester said i neednt have changed them over as it wasnt an MOT fail but probably would be next time i brought it in.
