Anyone been watching? Linky

I now a lot of peeps detest Mr Boorman, but if you can put that to one side I think the new series is pretty interesting. It focuses more on the people, places and cultures this time round and I must say I found last nights episode on Papua New Guinea a good watch.

To be fair, I'm hardly Charley's biggest fan, but I don't think he comes off as the asswipe he did in LWR/LWD. I suspect that the reason is the lack of Russ Malkin on the producing team, which I presume is also the reason the show is more focused on people/places rather than the transport and/or problems encountered en route.

I watched it last night for the first time. I thought he was alright and it did focus more on the people and their cultures. I couldnt be bothered much with him on LWD but i`ll watch it again no probs.
Also, want to go and do that bit of off roading they done Thumbs Up

I quite liked it lastnight, the first By Any Means was a bit hit or miss, but last nights episode was interesting.

I'm surprised Claudio is working with Charlie as they didn't seem to get on, Russ Malkin is an executive producer for the show, but I don't think is on the trip itself.

Perhaps the thing is it seems to be paired down to the bare minimum of hanger-ons. Only seems to be a couple of camera men (including Claudio Von Planta) and Charlie himself, I think it gives it a pretty raw sort of edge.

Whether its the case or not I don't really know. There might be helicopters and police protection off-camera... I still enjoyed it last night. (I also enjoyed Kevin McLeod's Grand Tour, which shows my age...)

I'm really enjoying this series and it seems to be more bike orientated than the last series of By Any Means. Liked the fact he had a snigger about the KTM breaking down in episode 1.

This series seems alot better. I think in the first By Any Means, they tried to respond too much to the 'they always have huge support teams and it makes them rubbish' by scaling it down to about 3 of them.

While this may make for a good trip and a book, it makes a TV program very poor.

As anyone whos worked with decent cameras, means that you need a fair amount of gear and it gets very big and heavy pretty quickly.

I think it seems as though they have the formula sorted a bit better this time - a decent size camera crew, but small enough so they can actually see and get involved in things.
