(for a day)

After this very useful and successful thread - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=176635&highlight=things+paris&sid=3c1519601d4b0b6659ff9b75cea33f0a

I'm going to Dublin (for a day) for my birthday later this month.

Should land about 8am and get last flight home.

What is there to see good people of BCF?

Depends on what time the last flight home is and what day of the week you'll be there. Most days in Ireland are spent between the bar and the bookies. I tend to be too drunk/hungover to enjoy the daytimes when I'm there, but I remembered posting something on a similar thread.

Copied and pasted from this thread:

I've managed to blow well over £400 in a long weekend, but that did include a rather expensive trip to shelburn dog track (well worth a night out, starts at 7ish, finishes at 10ish). Stay away from temple bar. It's full of fat business men letching at the hen-do mob. There's nearly always a fight and the drinks are way over priced (8 quid a pint in some places! ). Go to Harcourt Street for the clubs. There's D-TWO (underneath the Harcourt Hotel) and "Copper Face Jacks"(known locally as Slapper Face Jacks, or simply "Slappers" for obvious reasons... If you don't pull in there you must be a proper munter!). The clubs down there are much cheaper than Temple Bar and it's mostly full of Irish folk... the blokes are sound and the lasses are well up for it! Just jump in a taxi and ask to be taken to Harcourt Street... The driver will probably ask if you're off to "Slappers" and as they've probably already been past there a few times, you usually get a "totty forecast"! . Don't get there too early though, the clubs don't get busy until well after midnight, so pace yourself. If you want somewhere good to drink before hitting the clubs, "Russel Court" in Harcourt Street is fantastic, cheap (for Dublin) and it has a massive outdoor area with heaters for the smokers. Usually plenty of talent in there too!

The Guinness tour is worth the 14euros if you like the stuff and Dublin Zoo was a surprisingly good day out! Other than that, Grafton Street for the buskers is a must! And I hope you have a good time over there! I can't get enough of the place!

Hope that helps

Drew

p.s, If you must go to temple bar... go on a sunday night and pop into the "MEZZ Bar". There's a load of folk who turn up with their own instruments and jam all night. They're usually pretty good and the tranvestite saxophone player is a must see!
