Rained all day today, no worries though as I was in the office.

Coming home there was some leviathan sized puddles that people were stopping and going around.

Obviously being in works van and me being the most immature person I know, I went straight through laughing like a maniac. Laughing

So.. are you a straight through person, or do you avoid them?

Avoid where safe to do so. Could be a huge hole or something under the water.

Sometimes you have to go through them though. If you get it right you can get a huge jet of water up your trouser leg.

If water is ammassing there is a drop, simple as, could be deep, there may be a hole as stated above, also, there is the issue of aquaplaning, with my wide arse wheels on the car, i either avoid it, or slow down.

Coming through!!!

https://www.stedotcom.com/l200/19.jpg

You don't just go straight through!! Evil or Very Mad You accelerate as much as possible first, then you straight through the puddle aiming for whichever is the deepest part.

The splash is scored on a number of different things:
- Height
- How far it splashes
- Pedestrians
- Cyclists
- Motor cylists going the other way (a favourite of mine, I'll be very proud of myself if I ever see a ranting thread on here about my splashing Laughing)
- Open top cars
- If there is someone driving too close behind then they'll drive straight into the deep puddle as well

I'm a good driver I am. Mr. Green

Accelerate and maybe put my weight back a bit. If the wave doesn't go above your head you're not trying hard enough.

Ste has the idea. Thumbs Up

be careful with puddle unless you know that your air intake is nice and high, my grandad got stranded in his xantia going through a dep pudle (flooded country lane) I had to take his glow plugs out and empty the water from the cylinders,

He wasn't the only one stranded that day we saw a couple cars abondoned later on.

I went through a massive puddle in my old Daewoo Matiz and it instantly cut out Sad Started a few minutes lately, luckily, and for some reason loads of white smoke came out of the exhaust Laughing

Nice to see some puddle fans Laughing

Was just out in the van again, hit a lake on the outside lane of the Armley Gyratory. There was a mini to my left with the drivers window down who took the brunt of the wave. Unbelievably funny.

Was a steam from bonnet job Very Happy

Depends, if it's avoidable then avoid it, if not just plough straight through it.

Go slower if in a petrol. Thumbs Up.

What gets me is the 4X4's that go around the smallest of puddles. It's a 4X4, meant to go through water...

I usually power through puddles. Deepest i've gone through was a 2ft deep flood in Newsham Green in a Vauxhall Astra.

Was proud on making it, so I drove through it again...

I tend to go through, but slow down due to my car having such wide wheels.
I managed to hit a massive one on a corner by accident at 80mph on a country road.
It scared the shit out of me, the whole car planed over the thing and I couldn't do anything for about 3-4 seconds. The car very nearly mounted the grass verge at the other side of the corner.
