I prefer the look of "Vintage" bikes all the time, in fact today I signed up to eBay solely to bid on a CB550 (K not F, unfortunately). I've gone this long without being lured into the sordid world of online auctions.
It's sort of like seeing a Bugatti Veyron next to a Pontiac Trans-Am. The pontiac gets 100% of my attention in this hypothetical situation, but if the Veyron was on it's own I would buy one (in this new hypothetical situation where I have loads of money ).
For the record your Ducati doesn't inspire me in the slightest, but I've popped a small rager at the 550. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper. |

Put it this way:
If vintage bikes were all that was available for me to buy/ride....i wouldn`t ride.
Does that answer your question. |

Err, a 1975 bike would be considered 'classic', not vintage... ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

I was frustrated, so I googled.
| BMW Vintage Group wrote: | Just for reference here’s how the Vintage BMW group defines the terms, as you can see they break it down by year:
“Classic (1970-on, at least 25 years old), Vintage (1948-1969) and Antique (1923-1945) BMW motorcycles” |
Does this apply to all bikes or just BMW? Does it really matter? Would you call a classic bike of no particular importance simply "old"? ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

as an owner of both a classic and a modern machine ( and that honda btw ain't a classic in my book) both have pro's and con's.
i love the classic for blasts because i can feel when i'm at the limits and it is fun to ride round them, the classic is never going to risk my license much, you get a greater sense of ownership with a classic.
the downsides are for ~ every hour on the road you'll spend 2 hours fettling, almost anything modern will leave you for dead, parts whilst avaiable now will be short in the future, maintaince like emptying the oil sump have to be done after every ride, servicing has to be done yourself as many shops don't have the tools.
modern bikes are good because they are quick, capable, start easily, need little day to day maintenance, wider choice of tyres, etc.
although on a sunny day i prefer to ride the classic (when it's in the mood) than the modern when all is said and done. ____________________ "intelligent inattention is preferable to unintelligent tinkering"

I'll let you know.
I just bought myself a 2007 "vintage" bike in the form of a Royal Enfield 350 bullet.
It's only two years old but pre-unit OHV engine, kickstart, right hand gear change, drum brakes, points ignition, 19" wheels and ought to do in the region of 65mph.
Really looking forward to riding it. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
