Agreed, its more like a competion or something, or a guessing game.

"choose wisely for the true grail will give you life, the false grail will take it from you".

But haven't we had a post like this a while back, and the NSR won?

Hahaha, you guys are jokers... Laughing

You are not even answering his question, just messing around about what he said...

Id dependith if thou hadst mucho dosho. (second hand) Peds be cheepe but cakke, but maketh for goode in town fun.

125 race reps be goode, but one payeth many pieces o' eight for them. ye old insuraance coste loads on 125s aswell.

ye mai choose an olde 125 4 stroker for practice. but ye be crappe also. insurance ye cheepe. goode for practicing

i did nay buy a learner bike coz i couldn't be assed to spend my gold coins. i saved mai coins, for the learneed lessons. then my boye, i bought a 400cc. Very Happy

i perthink the rs125 be the beste 125. it goeth like a speeding arrow, and be nimble like our good kings wee dags.

Choose wisely young minion, your hard earned golden coins are on the line...

AR125.

Why? Because it's the only (working) 2 stoke 125 I've tried. Razz

Mine also sounded like a chainsaw, did 80+ MPH and was generally great fun to ride, though it didn't work that often.

well i was gonna get an rs125, but in the end decided it would be pushing my budget and the insurance would sting me too (i only work part time)

So i got a CG125 2001 model, very reliable, does exactly what its meant to, nothing more, nothing less...

I like it, but id prefer a 2 stroke 125, if I could have any 125 it'd probably be an NSR, because id expect it to be more reliable than an italian machine..

The NSR is actually pretty reliable providing you keep it properly maintained; so about the same as a 4 stroke.

Go for an older model and you could buy two and have one as a spare Smile. Insurance will also be cheaper and they will accelerate ok as well as be able to sensibly cruise at motorway/dual carrigeway speeds with some power left in reserve.

pwarrr at the cg, i was wondering what you were up to with your bike, the cg will no doubt be exactly what your used to (not necicaraly good Razz ), but with lecy start if i'm not mistaken woo!

Put it this way, you WILL appreciate your next bike more than if you got a prilla or nsr. something to work towards... nothing concentrates the mind like a 4stroke 124 Razz

At first i was looking at the NSR125 and was ready to part with my cash, untill i realized a good condition one would cost approximately £2,000 - £3,000... then when i saw the CBR125 it made me think. I was also considering the Varadero but that wasnt very comfy... and was more expensive then the CBR.

You can get good condition older NSRs for around £1000.

Any NSR will be a lot better 'bike' generally, in my opinion, than any 4 stroke 125.

Personally I see buying new as a bad thing. You loose a lot of money the minute you walk out the show room. Also it costs even more to fix when you drop it and parts are more expensive.

there is not best 125 again lol. depends which one you prefer. what i've heard (not sure if its completely true or not) is

1)rs125 are fast but if you break something spares can take forever to come

2)cagiva mitos don't have as much top end but go round corners like a train on tracks (i've seen it and it does do corners superbly)

3)nsr is a great bike, as quick as the rs and spares are easyer to get

4)cbr is 4 stroke so not as fast, also very thin and light which helps make up for speed, but it does have a very reliable engine and sounds nicer

just make sure the one you buy hasn't been ragged to much

but heres something to consider. i'm still on a 50 now, but i'm not getting a 125, instead i'm getting a 400, heres why

125
bike: £1200
insurance: £1200 (nsr125 tpft)
cbt: £70-£90

total: £2490

400
bike: £1000
insurance: £800 (cbr400 tpft)
test: £320
restriction: £200

total: £2320

(thats working off me having 3 points on my licence on insureance quotes)

so you save money, plus can take pillions, plus can go on motorway, plus can go faster and have a better sounding more reliable bike. and that was working on a cheap 125 bike as well. i've got my test booked for this month. but i'm certainly not going to bother with a 125.

The mito and rs 125's are about the same speed, the older models for both bikes are faster than the new ones, but the fastest one are the older mito's with the 7 gears and 34mm carb.

It's hard to say what the best 125 is as the all have their good points from the cg to a mito/rs. Depends what you want it for.

skyline, you know its the best way, i will be doing my test in november and depending how the thing my nan used to put money in for me goes and my saving goes i will be looking for a bandit6 or may even take a loan and get a zx6-r, if i am low on cash though a vfr400 may look more friendly. Karma

I don't really see the point in the RS and mito, alot of money for a bike that isn't really that great? they look ok, you might think they are cool, but the majority of people think your a bit of a twat when they hear it!
Also none of them are amazingly fast, and how many people keep their 400's at 33bhp Wink I would choose a tatty 400 over a tinny little 125 anyday Thumbs Up I think john got his 400 for well under a grand, and it has been solid so far.

I went the route of the old battered NSR, it will take longer but no way could I afford a shiney bike anyway, oh and about the reliability, none of the 125 strokers are that reliable. However I think the important thing is parts availability, and the NSR wins hands down compared to the italian machines.

Quote:
Absolute bullshit. I have a Mito, I know someone with a Rs125, I also know people with an Rs50 and a Derbi GPR50, all european and no real problems. I know of someone with an nsr who has had at least as many problems.

Right so your personal experiance makes you the judge of which bike is most reliable Rolling Eyes Honda are kinda well known for reliability Wink Italian bikes, well Laughing

The NSR is in a lower state of tune than the RS and Mito, this makes the NSR more reliable than the others. However, if they are all looked after correctly there is no reason why the RS and Mito can't be pretty good. The NSR is better at taking abuse than the other 2.

As for spares, well the Italian factories are notorious for poor parts availability, and there are plenty of people on here who can testify to waiting months for spares.

[edit]And what is it about students that you hate so much?[/edit]
