Traded in my 2000 CBR600F for this 2006 CBR600RR.

Picked it up on Saturday from Bradford and have done 300 miles just bringing it home. Laughing

Needs a bit of TLC in the cosmetics department but runs pretty well. Very Happy

Cool, stick some photos up. (Or when you collect it if you haven't already)

I put in about £1.5k on top. Dealers were only offering me about £1.6k for my F so I sold it to a friend for £2k.

I'm 6'2" Laughing

Differences I've noticed so far are obviously it's quicker, handles a bit better. Not as comfortable but I was expecting that, hurts the wrists and back after a while (bearing in mind that I had to ride it 300 miles to get it home in one go)

One thing I have noticed about it is that it kinda judders if held between 5-6k revs in all gears. Sort of feels like it is lurching forward. Anyone have any ideas what that could be? Might take it to the local Honda place and ask them about it.

Looks nice, what needs doing to it?

Why did you choose to upgrade to another similar 600?

All the best,

Tim.

I'm gonna replace the screen, the mini light on the front doesn't work, it has a few rusty bolts etc which I'll replace with stainless steel ones, the tail tidy is a bit skanky and the built in number plate light doesn't work.

The previous owner put LED indicators on the back but didn't change the relay so they flash fast enough to give people behind me seizures.

The exhaust is a bit scratched, which I presume he did while fitting the tail tidy. But it's only the stock exhaust so I was gonna replace that anyway.

There's a couple of other skanky looking things but they are cheap/easy to fix.

I've just ordered new mirrors to replace these:

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n245/MonkeyKnuckle/rr005.jpg

That's about it. Hopefully when I'm done with it then it'll look as good as new. Very Happy

Should look much better than the one on there at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get one? I don't want to spend too much and all the ones I'm looking at are £50-60.

Damn those graphics are gawdy.

Looks nice though.

([nerd]I hope you know it's a late registered 05 rather than an 06. In 2006 the RR got USD forks and radial calipers [/nerd])

Thumbs Up

Hmm.....

I stuck the license plate into the DVLA website and it came back as first registered on: 29 06 2006 and is listed as manufactured in 2006. I've just read on another forum that the 05-06 had the pillion seat lock in the plastic behind the riders seat, which this doesn't..... It has it in the same location as the 03-04......

Confused....

As for exhaust, I was thinking:

Blue Flames.

Seems I was wrong, it got USD in 2005:

https://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2005models/2005-Honda-CBR600RRb.jpg

Could be an import?

Personally if that's an OE scheme I would suspect an American import.

The DVLA routinely cock up the year of manufacture on imports. One of my old bikes was registered as manufactured in 1992, despite being a 1991.

It's not a huge problem if it is an import, but make sure you know exactly what you're getting.

EDIT-

Seems the Yellow was only available in 2003 (And I don't think it was on EU bikes, they only got Red, Blue, and Black I think)?

£50-60 is abit much for a screen imo.

I just bought this screen, looks good in the pictures.

Hasnt arrived yet so cant say what its like.

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280398438481&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

About £18.

I also bought an integrated rear light and flush front indi's.

Already got a blueflame twin outlet.

Currently making my own version of this tail tidy:

Right.

Luckily I took a screenshot of the advert before they took it down, just in case.

https://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n245/MonkeyKnuckle/advert.jpg

As you can see they are advertising it as an 06 and a 'UK bike'

Obviously I can't take it back as it's 200 miles away and to be honest when I got there they were all a bit cockish. It came with 12 months MOT even though it shouldn't have passed one. (No number plate light and indicators flash too fast are all I've found so far)

And on my insurance I said it's not an import, don't know if that'll make any difference or not.

Like you said it looks like the yellow is 03 but the 'tribal' paint job is only on 06 models. Unless a previous owner put the graphics on manually.

Any way I can check the true year of it and if it's an import or not?

£18 is much better. Laughing Let me know what it's like when it arrives, with pictures of course. Razz Although I don't use eBay so might struggle to order one. Laughing

Mine came with an integrated rear light, I had one on my F as well. Might stick some small LED arrow indicators on instead as I don't really like them.

Got any pics of the exhaust? On the blue flame website they only list the carbon one I posted above. Confused

That`s the range where the dual stage fuel injectors kick in.Holding the revs there might mean they`re opening/closing irratically causing the bike to lurch a little.
My RR6 was seriously smooth. When i was pootling along i always kept it at about 4k in most of the gears (helps with fuel consumption coz the injectors dont operate at that range) and rode it well over 6k the rest of the time Laughing
I suppose you could call the 5-6k range the first powerband.....the other one`s around 9-10k i think.
