... and god they feel horrible, can't actually get the toe under the gear shifter and it's winding me up (only worn them this morning)

Needed some new ones as the old ones (some spada blue things) are about as watertight as a colander.

Any advice for wearing them in? possibly thinking of adjusting the gear lever up a bit. I'm currently changing gear with the end of the lever.

I had the same problem when I bought my current boots (Sidi Black Rain) last year. After a couple of weeks of wearing them though, I got used to them and they flexed a little more at the ankle allowing me to get my toes under the gear lever properly.

wear them around the house to break them in, I did for a short time move the gear lever while they broke in though.

125cc seem to be especially bad for accepting new boots...espeically if they`re race boots.I had the same problem with my rs125.Got a pair of sidi vertigo and damn near killed myself coz i couldn`t get out of 1st gear in heavy traffic and my foot was wedged oddly under the lever.
Decided to send them back and swap for a pair of moto-x boots with a flat sole but they were 10 times as bad and had same problem.
Swapped AGAIN for a pair of sidi touring boots but still couldnt get them under the gear lever properly. Rolling Eyes

I thought about getting some adjustable pegs for a while so i could get the boots i wanted.....but passed my bike test instead, got bigger bikes, and found they were better designed to accomadate whatever boot i wanted.

Spent 12 months wearing trainers on the rs125 Thumbs Down Rolling Eyes

I find the Akito Miami perfect, nice , light & waterproof ideal for commuting in, also bought a pair of Nitro NB-31's which are a motorcycle trainer style boot, again waterproof and light and are great with a pair of kevlar jeans if you going out or simply dont want to get changed when you get to work etc.

Yea the boots feel like they are designed for rearsets on a sports bike i.e at an angle to your body instead of straight down, may wear them about tonight then. Glad i'm not the only person with the problem cheers guys.

Welcome to my world. Cool

Since my accident I have very little movement/flexibility in my ankle, so I have to move my entire foot to change gear. So a simple adjustment to the gear link will put paid to the problem.

In the meantime, do everything other people have suggested, and your boots should soon give a little.

In the meantime, you can ride about thinking about the poor sods like me, who have to cope with this for life. Idea

Tried moving the gear lever... then noticed it's already touching the engine casing when fully up as is... moving it up takes a big scratch out of the engine casing which is a slight design flaw, i'm just going to have to wear them and shut up and put up Sad

Breaking in boots is always a bitch. Pissing on them or walking in a farmers field will break them in. The engineers at work agree that it might be the ammonia contained in urine and ruminated fecal matter that seems to aid the breaking in process. If you DON'T want to gothat far, i suggest just getting them damp with a cloth and walk about in them. Keep them damp then condition with leather wax or just any skincare product. Give it a rainy day and they'll break in nicely... Oh, let the boot dry naturally when it does rain. Shove loads of newspaper in the boot and do not place it by a direct heat source.
