I packed it up 11 weeks ago, can taste more, smell more, my beer is more flavoursome, i don't smell of ashtray, I save 2 pints money a day.
I won't die of a foul disease.
Having smoked from 14 onwards, I have spent 6 years damping my senses, and am fucking happy they are back.
Overall, a damn good decision I'm saying.
as for being surrounded by smokers, oh well, others were surrounded by me before, was that pleasant? Was it fuck, gives me incentive to keep up the non smoking. ____________________ "Do what you always did, get what you always got" |

I quit 12.5 years ago now, fags were £3 a pack then and I smoked a pack a day. Just worked that out as a saving of at least £13,696.87, or nearly £1100 a year.
I still get the odd urge, usually in those quiet moments of contemplation when working on the bike, cracking open the first tin after putting a tent up and getting the dinner on, having a coffee and burger stop on a long bike ride. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Will power.
I stoped for 3 weeks - taste of a pint, i needed a cig.
Two things ive always remembered....
1) Mum smoked 40 a day - she stoped just like that - never had a craving, nothing since...been a good 7 years now.
2) My taste - them 3 weeks did do me wonders, my taste was back - all the food/soft drinks I had I could really taste the difference
And I do miss it.
I really do need to quit - those adverts with the children asking there parents to stop smoking didnt have an affect on me, Untill this week when my own son come in and asked me to stop.
Was a hard hit for me - I do want to quit but I can also be foul/stressed when doing so! |

I have been smoke free for a long time now and my friends and other half still smoke. My other half rarely gets a kiss now he stinks. And no one is allowed to smoke in my house. Its hard when people are smoking around you as I was scared so many times after smelling it that I would want one. So I distracted myself and stepped well back from the smokers so I wouldnt be tempted. It really does take will power though. I wouldnt have done it without it. if I didnt have my son I would be still smoking.
I will never go back I have come to far now and got the worst of it over me a long time ago.
This was my 3rd attempt and I suceeded here as I went cold turkey with will power and not patches which I failed on previously as they made me so ill it made smoking look healthier. ____________________ All the breast.

Day 5, I've got this shit licked
Just a case of not having 'the odd one' when I think I can handle it.
No cravings as such now, eating more, coughing up big greenies. Not as bad as I thought it would be, only taken 5 days, a couple of which were tough going. I think my smell has improved marginally, but no other 'health' pluses.
I'm very happy with this as I obviously know that smoking can kill you off in many horrible ways but I still spent good money on killing myself for many years. ____________________ BCF's 6th favourite poster 2009-2010

prepare to get your taste buds back and all the nice food you did like will taste horrible and everything will smell rotten! You will smell smoke off everyone. My smell improved so much I could smell people smoking outside my house and passing me on the bike in cars on main roads! On the good side you will smell nice things when you buy them after you smell how horrid your house really is ( I have dogs now I have plugs ins
I didnt get any greeners or bad coughs?? weird. I did first time I tried to give up. My blood doesnt pump around me like a speed addict and I am calmer ____________________ All the breast.

If you need something to replace it with because you have a relatively addictive personality then caffeine is a fairly harmless drug that is incredibly easy to become dependant on within about a week. Your body gets used to it and adjusts your chemistry accordingly so that actually the caffeine will have a much shorter time frame where you can feel it's effects.
It doesn't take very long to wean yourself off of it either. Not that I've ever smoked before, but if just seems like it could be an addictive habit type substitute. I'm absolutely in love with energy drinks now but only let myself use them about once a week. That way my body is always so sensitive to them and I can enjoy feeling that high for the 6 hours aprx. that it stays in your blood stream.
Being hyper is fun, and coffee cravings are a slightly social thing too ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
