 |
|
Took my PC apart the other day to do a bit of maintenance (removed an old PCI ATA RAID card & drives, cleaned it out, smartened up the wiring a bit) - since then, i've lost both my CD/DVD drives.
The drives are recognised at POST and can be seen in the BIOS, but are not visible in the OS - it's Vista Premium 32bit.
Any ideas? ____________________ Space Monkey #7

Fixxored.
My MB only has 1 IDE channel on it (my OS HD is SATA), so i knew it wasn't a hardware problem - plus, they were being picked up by the BIOS.
I stumbled across the solution by changing the view in device manager from 'by type' to 'by connection' - there i could see a problem with the IDE controller - it was disabled (?!!?). As soon as i enabled it, my 2 CD drives popped up.
