Grip-lock

I've ordered a grip-lock, and just tried it on. Seems to work nicely, but I'm a bit concerned about having the front brake permentantly on. Can this cause any problems? Eg. cable stretching, etc.?

Cable brakes eh?
Must be an old bike you got there.

Otherwise, could be a groovy way to leave your brakes over night once you have bled them.

Sorry, I'm not that up on motorbike mechanics - I presume there must be a cable involved somewhere though? It's a '04 CBR600RR.

The cable comment was just an example though - the question was really about if there's any possible side effect related to having the brake always on when not riding.

Would this cause thieves to tamper with your brakes in order to steal the bike though. Do thieves carry spanners etc.

Is grip-lock a good idea or not? Hmm. Something for me to think about whilst following her around Asda later.

That's what worries me. Someone cuts through my brake hose, gets disturbed, buggers off, I get on bike in the middle of the night and ride off with no fluid in the system.

Hmm. Don't like it. You'd have to check the hose, every morning. They could even hacksaw your brake lever off and wheel the bike away.

I know it's to stop casual thieves. But...

To the OP, I don't whether or not it would cause bulging in the rubber hose being left on every night?

You can use it without engaging the brake just as a physical barrier to using the throttle

You wouldn't even need to cut the lines, just undo the bolt that the lever pivots on and you're away. Might be an OK deterrent for opportunists I suppose.
