Right, ill keep it breif, im sure this can be worked out, i just need some confirmation. Confused

I recieved my full bike licence i think in 2005. I lost my licence due to getting 3 points (on top of the 3 from provisional) because i had been riding less than 2 years.
I got my licence back in 2006 and now in 2009 im clear of the 2 year probationary period.

I passed my driving test in July 2008 and i had 3 points on my licence from before. This year i was caught doing 36 in a 30 and got a fixed penalty/points.
Now, im sure that as i have a full bike licence and added the catagory of car on there in 2008 that im exempt from the 2 year probationary period.
Ive recieved a letter today explaining that they sent my licence to the DVLA because i havent been driving two years and face revocation. I have a feeling the DVLA will just take one look at that and want to take both my entitlements away because they know it will cost.

I cant speak to anyone there at DVLA and the police station is closed today. I want to know if im under the 2 year probation period....i think its fucking rediculous if i am as im going to loose both my car/bike entitlements for 5MPH over a speed limit.

Did you not ask this a month or 2 ago ?

Your licence starts from when it was first issued, entitelments are added as you go along. So your probation period ended 2 years after you done your bike test.

If you have already passed your probationary period, and then got another cat added, you are on a 12 point system

So if you have passed your test in 2006 and have done your probationary period to 2008 then in 2009 you get the car added catergory you dont have a probation period.

So in theory you should be fine, providing I have understood your post, however on the technical basis that you have near enough failed 2 probationary periods, can I offer you the advice of slow down and stop acting like a tit on the road

Not being righteous or sanctimonius on you, as we all do some silly things at some point, but time and place etc

I will have a search for the info I found on this

DVLA Website says the 2 year probationary period is from "The day you pass your first entitlement test." or something along those lines so you should be clear..

Agreed, 6 points probation period starts from when you get the first entitlement on your license aka 2006. Since it's passed, you can add as many entitlements as you like but your still on 12 points.

So in effect you should be fine Smile

Aye but the same rules apply, you were worried about the 3 points extra then too.

At a guess yes as one of them was for doing 36 in 30, although one is for going through a red light, which he didnt do

Not if your within your first 2 years! 6 or more in your first 2 year from passing your test, and you lose your licence and have to reapply for a provisional and retake all your tests.

lol drivel. partly my bad, missed the red light bit on first read.

still. wouldnt you take it easy knowing you have a limit!?! i mean, i have 3 points from 3 years ago in car, and i made sure to not get more for a year and even now i am more careful than i used to be about police around.

speeding is speeding, but just gotta watch out for the fuzz and yellow cameras i guess. i also approach any new estate cars with extreme caution.

anyhoo. you see to be doing well with racking up points. in this case, they dont make prizes! BOOOOO Thumbs Down

get well soon Smile
