Yesterday on the severn bridge as we were working a Vincent black shadow pulled into the closed lane and he started runnig back up the road. His tank bag had come off spilling its contents over the live lane.
As we approached to help him there were 2 loud bangs and the squeal of brakes. A van and a clio had pulled into the closed lane and the van driver was irate to say the least!

Turns out the contents of his tank bag was his tool kit. An adustable spanner had holed the sump on the van and the renault had been crippled by a hammer and extenstion bad hitting the gearbox and exhaust.

The motorbike rider was very shaken up by it and we had to hold the van driver back from him. To rub salt in the wound the police officer that came reported him for carrying an insecure load.

I suppose it could have been alot worse but I do feel sorry for him.

Also one of the few cases where the insurance company has no defence, so that'll be his NCB gone too.

What was it insecure about? Was it to fat, or to wide? Small breasts? Cavenous hole for putting hard objects in?

As for the original reason I looked, I honestly thought, how the hell does a 1950s Vincent write off two cars with out
A. Killing the rider
B. Ending up as a crumpled mess

But that is fairly funny, poor bloke but he did take out a Frenchy

Hi

Also, as the tool box slides under the seat and has plenty of space, why was he keeping it in a tank bag.

All the best

Keith

i've switched to a soft faced hammer atm as I feel I'm less likely to do damage to the bike (mainly the sump plug).

Hammer is a useful tool for any bike. Just last Friday I was frantically raking for a hammer as the front brake on my GZ had seized and I had to get to the MOT place in 30 mins. Couldn't find one but giving it a good welly worked just fine and it became loose enough.

Caveman mechanics. Jobs-a-good-un. Thumbs Up

No, but i have heard fairytales about them.

Apparently, there is such a thing as an engine that isn't oil tight. And back in the early years, shortly after the stone-age, they used air cooling. Can you believe that?! Laughing

Any engine that doesn't leak oil is just showing off.
