I've got this really really irritating problem with MSN. Several people insist on signing into MSN in "appear offline" mode so they don't show up in my contact list and MSN won't let me initiate a convo with them because they are apparently offline.

However they still want to hold a conversation with me, problem is a lot of the time it wont let me reply to messages saying cannot be delivered etc. No matter how many times I tell them this they swear blind nobody else has this issue and continue. I've tried it with MSN 7.5 and Live (I have both seperately installed, neither work). How do these magical people not have problems?

What's wrong shaun, resorted to browsing the technical help forum because you've got no adoring comedy fans to bed?

Or in your case, leave the stage.

I've never had this problem.

I can only recommend testing out all of the unofficial MSN clients out there (open source, web based etc) to see if you still get the same problem.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

There is a setting in the MSN menu that will allow you to see offline friends, they simply show on the list as "offline". As to whether that will affect being able to talk to them I don't know, but I can state categorically I have no problem starting or maintaining conversations either while appearing offline or talking to people who are doing so. The only thing the client will not do while in "appear offline" mode is transfer files.

Yes, definately, I just find it impossible to use MSN messenger unless I'm sat on some sort of raised platform, preferably with several tables of people all facing me in a manner that would suggest that I'm the centre of attention.
