Was on the dreaded ebay, saw the following for £620 with 45 minutes left. I've been given £1000 to buy a bike, so stuck a bid in, and got it for £700! not bad considering its got new fork seals, battery and 12 months MOT Razz

Thanks mate Smile I'm not entirely sure what it needs exactly, those are the pics off ebay, I know that where the upper and lower halves of the front fairing join the paints damaged, and theres a small rip in the pillion seat, but not really anything to worry about. Also forgot to mention its reasonably low mileage, it's an '89 model, and has done 18k (11700mi) Smile I'm picking it up tomorrow, so expect photo whorage!

Bikes here! I picked it up this afternoon, but ran out of light before I could take any pics. It's in reasonably good condition, and needs very little work, front brake pads, and one mirror is aftermarket, ones standard. Also it's been stood up for 3 years, but fires straight away so will be giving it a full service asap Smile

sounds ok, not sure what end can is on it though.

Cheers guys, really appreciate the comments, makes me more sure I made the right decision getting this.

I'm afraid that I can't accept your offer for trade, add a Cadbury's Creme Egg and I might be slightly more interested Wink

I got more pics as promised, here they are Smile

It is mate, hence why Honda themselves put that little crotch pad on the tank Laughing so when you break you don't sterilise yourself!

Cheers mate Very Happy I don't plan to spend much time at all around the redline (taken it there once or twice at standstill though) because I don't see any real need for it on the road (track day is a totally different matter though Twisted Evil )

chris-red wrote:

Thanks chris, I felt it was a good price, especially seeing as its got a good set of tyres (BT90 front, BT090 rear both with plenty of tread left) a new battery and new fork seals and fairly low mileage Smile

I've been looking at bigger bikes for 2 months or so, and have held fire on several bikes (NC30 for £750 with full T&T, GSXR400 project for £300) and decided that this one was the right one for me Smile

Cheers supZ, needs some odd bits still, but all in I'm looking at £850 - £900ish before I'm happy it's good for the road Smile

Oh, I still need to service it, but here's a vid showing it starting from cold earlier today Smile

It's down in the logbook as being an '89, but the paintjob is an RR-J only. I've yet to have a look at my haynes manual to cross reference it, but will do tomorrow and post up what it is Smile

It really is awesome to see what bargains people find on eBay, good bikes go for some shocking prices Thumbs Up

I just hope that when i get my A2 license, i can find a bike like that at the same price...

Love the bike mate, despite it being that old, it's a lovely looking thing Thumbs Up

otherwise very nice Thumbs Up

i know, I know Sad unfortunately the bolt holes are all wrong, wouldn't surprise me if its be de-baffled or something with the can off the bike and re-riveted it a hole over. Now when the spout points down, the hole in the can is in between 2 on the downpipe Sad (pic attached) looks like I'll have to make an adaptor plate now

Cheers milkster Smile must admit, I got lucky with this bike Very Happy hopefully I'll find very little to change, so far I need to drill out the remains of the LHS bar end, paint the engine covers from chocolate brown ( Sick ) to silver or black, turn the can and change one of the wing mirrors.

Cheers Very Happy Does your bike still look like your display pic? looks awesome in black and yellow, maybe you could post some pics of yours?

It's not yellow anymore - the picture looks good but in real life it wasn't great; tank and mudguard were good but the fairings were aftermarket fibreglass ones in a dullish yellow that didn't match the tank/mudguard. Have since resprayed it red/black and when I finish collecting plastic panels I'll spray those all black and fit them.

Awesome Very Happy I look forward to seeing it mate Smile I've managed to pick up a scorpian end can, the holes look to be in the right place, I just need to check theyre the right distance apart Razz heres how the old one sits if the tip is made to point down

https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/18102009176.jpg

Im wondering if i can drill the rivets out of this end, pull the mounting plate out, and twist it and re-rivet it in the right place? I definately need to make it shorter as theres a hole in the side (you can see the duck tape patch in the above pic) which I want to remove

Here's a few pics, I have the Scorpion can waiting to be fitted with its new adaptor Razz

I stripped the lower fairings off to clean them (they were absolutely disgusting!)
https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/11112009199.jpg
https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/11112009201.jpg
all of the white bits on the lower fairings were like this /\ you can see where I'd cleaned and polished one half of the 'V' piece

And because I intend to go there one day and it looks awesome I put this on Very Happy
