The datatool s3 on my Triumph is a pain in the arse, so i want to remove it.
After having a look at how its wired in, all i can see is one bunch of wires coming out of the alarm 'box' thats connected via a multiplug to what looks like the origanol loom.
Surely it cant be that easy though..??
Im pretty certain the alarm was fitted by the dealer when the bike was new, so im wondering if the alarm is a 'plug and play' type thing, with the loom made ready to accept it.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
Cheers, Nick Thumbs Up

If it's anything like the Triumph-fitted s4 then yes, it does just plug into the loom.

However, you need blanking plug that goes in where you take the alarm out. Should have been supplied with the bike really, though if it's been through a few owners before you, who knows.

I take it the blanking plug bridges the wires then?
I'll give Triumph a call seeing as i dont have one.
Thanks Bendy Thumbs Up

Yep
you need the blanking plug for sure, quick fix. datatool alarm on my speed triple gave me endless problems, in fact that was the third different bike with datatool alarm that I have ended up removing, pain in the arse they are. Luckily a friendly mechanic gave me a plug, don't know if the average Triumph dealer will even sell you one, I was told not!!!

Phoned up my local dealer, and they wont supply me with one...
I just knew this was gonna be a ballache.
I reckon i'll have to chop the multiplug off and bridge the wires myself.

Datatool = pain in the arse big time. Helpline were, well, helpfull, to a point. But way too expensive for another circuit board. That applies to all three times I had trouble.

If they won't supply you with one then how are you ever supposed to get an alarm removed? They removed it from your bike in the first place technically they should've given it to you, so get them to find you one. It's a triumph part with a number so there's no reason they can't supply it.

If they still won't try a breakers, suzuki parts dealer rather than a bike dealer or ebay.

simples, you aint supposed to have alarm removed, or disabled. friend of mine worked at a Triumph dealers, that was only way to get hold of the bridge, only other option is repair or full replacement of the unit. A dealer might be persuaded to remove the alarm, at a price Crying or Very sad

Got a blanking plug here, can dig it out and tell you which wires are bridged but just at a guess it will be starter wires and fuel pump. let me know.

Hey beatnck2, I hav A blanking plate here, i'll pop by work tommorow and make sure its either for your bike or universal, i dont want to give you wrong info as there are 4 pins, and 2 wires that interlink so if i tell you and it turns out its for a different bike then it blows your clocks or loom am sure you won't be impressed with me.

Ok beatnck, its a good job i went to work and asked as they said there are a few different plugs.
If its hard wired its easy to remove with a soldering iron and some solder. If it is indeed a plug in type then you need to loop the engine kill and the starter motor wires whick is quite simple but it takes a bit of time to follow the wires to their source.
