btw just some advice. Never buy Memory Cards off ebay.
There nearly ALL fakes.
Best paying another 5quid or summat and getting one off somewhere like Play.com

Right, went to local computer shop today and had a look at the following card:-

https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/MemoryFlash/SecureDigital/77-07-33.html

Although the online spec didn't state speed, it is clearly marked Claass 4 (4mb/s) on the packet.

Went down Tesco too and their SanDisK jobs were only class 2.

https://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-1058.aspx

So, what speed rating have we ascertained is required for smooth footage?

Will a class 4 card be up to it, or do we need to be looking at class 6 only?? Eh?

Come on on smooth people, what class card have you got?!!? Thinking

I'm still using the standard one that came with it on mine and the quality seems fine to me.

I'm pretty sure n30 posted a link earlier for a class 6 from ebay for £10 ish...(cant be bothered to search back through the posts)

But the first link was simply a eBay search showing a possible card ... not a tried and tested card ... I don't for one second believe much that is said on eBay, hence wanting a tried and tested!! Wink

Or was that card consequently purchased and used - and a youtube example clip posted up - later in the thread?

I can be fairly sure the one from my local shop will do what it says on the tin, so I need to know if anyone has tested with a class 4 card ...

The card I posted is the one that Sven recommended when he made the video in the first link IIRC. Thumbs Up

I did't buy form the recommenbded link as he'd put all his auction prices at £99, emailed him, waited 4 days, had no reply so I gae up and bought off someone else. I'll see how it goes next week.

Also I was at a show in london yesterday, a guy from Muvi was there, there is a prototype waterproof case coming for december circa £30.. bit big and bulky but if it means the camera can sit on your shoulder... for example. It'd be almost worth it.. right? Or get your self some perspex, hinges, rubber sealant and a dremel and make your own

I am pretty sure mine is a Class 2. It doesnt have any markings on it to indicate the class but it was the cheapest one I could find at the time (few years ago) It's a Kingston branded and works perfectly fine, whereas the one that came with it used to jump every few secs.

Postie just delivered a package containing a little box!! Smile

I need to get an SD card, so will get one of the C4 ones, I can always put it in its adapter and use it as a normal SD card if it is too slow for this!! Wink

The little boy is on charge right now (not quite sure how I know when it is fully charged mind - your normal translation problems in the manual Wink) ... and will pop out later and get a card!! Thumbs Up

.... And the results are in ... just to be clear for anyone that CBA to read up ...

I got one of these:-

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180406657521

And one of these:-

https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/MemoryFlash/SecureDigital/77-07-33.html

I firstly tried taping it to a duct in my fairing, then clipped it to the chest strap on my rucksack, then finally clipped it to the petrol cap flip-up bit!!

And the resulting footage:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXHDFkpSZwU&fmt=18

I'd like to just say I purposely didn't kill any kittens, scare any old grannies or break any road traffic laws during the making of this video ... its not like I wouldn't do any (or all) of the above, I just wouldn't film myself doing it and put it on youtube!! Laughing

I think the postie tried to deliver mine when I was in the shower earlier; I got a card saying the recipient's name is "Dong".

Comparing the footage of your fake MD80 to the original and you can tell the difference a mile off TBH.

Gotta agree, the footage isn't as good as other examples. (my pre-youtube is much better, but then presumably so is the other ones).

But is it <50% as good?!!? Wink

We have shown that mounting it 'properly' can massively increase results ... I could try harder in that department over some duck-tape to the fairing and a wibbly rucksack strap!! Very Happy ... but it does give us a benchmark for the 'cheap' one ...

Just starting selling these in my shop AEE MD80, took one out this afternoon and impressed with quality of video and sound. will upload a video as soon as I can make a legal one and edit it. Clipped camera to my jacket and put the strap round my neck just in case.

BCF price £60 with 2GB card.

But the ebay cam has the sports pack & a card for £55 delivered. (I thin kit has the sports pack).
