Brake Discs - Splurge Or Save?

Its that time again, Discs are worn, pads are shot, money will need to be spent.

In my browsing online for parts there is a wide range of prices. I was wondering what BCF'ers would choose:

There is a kit on ebay for 260 delivered for discs and pads:

I like having good anchors but im not loaded, has anyone had any experience with the cheap chinese ones are they made of cheese? is this one of those things i should just stump up the 260 and be poor with good brakes?

As im incapable of making a decision what would you do? bearing in mind that 100 pound is 100 pound, would pay for a new front tyre...

How can you not be paranoid about having good brakes? Pretty important if you ask me. Do it right the first time.

Armstrong HH pads are shit hot and last ages unless your caliper is seized but even then, they last for ages.
I always use armstrong HH pads but put ebc HH on the SRAD for when i get back on the road, no doubt i'll get Armstrongs again.

I had bad experiance with armstong pads, they were 'crumbley' and felt like wood, swapped them for EBC withing 200 miles they went in the bin.

What I would do if I was skint is my genuine discs 2nd hand on ebay. Obviously make sure they aren't warped and have abit of meat on.

Also, using the normal kevlar/organic type pads over sintered ones will make your discs last longer, in exchange for a bit less braking power, although on the roads it'll be fine.

There seems to be no agreement on how shit these various ebay discs are. Like G said in his thread, i use my brakes hard and there will be stoppies in there so i just rang that ABE company in greenwich and im going down there later this afternoon the guy was talking about around 100 quid a disc fitted, so we'll see how that goes...

I have Armstrong discs and pads, cant complain.
Seems very well made.

Don't buy EBC's since I had a pair on my ZXR250 which felt juddery from the start... Ever Been Conned? Try ABE and let me know how you get on. Padwise, take your pick, swings and roundabouts. I've got brembo's on mine atm and it's very good once warm; sintered SA compound.

I got new front discs and sintered pads fitted at ABE for 240, they already feel good in the few miles back home, the deciding factor was urgency, couldn't be arsed waiting for things from ebay.
