Does this clear film work?

Ive got a new Fireblade, and the tank seems to scrath really easily, its only done 500 miles and theres 2 scratches on the tank, gone through the laquer, not to sure how its happened, they just appear! I know a body shop owner who's going to touch them in with laquer and then buff over it so you can't see them.

But rarther then him doing this all the time, I was going to get a clear film protection kit for £100, im just wondering if its worth it, does it stop scratching and stone chips, and how easy is it to fit? Can I do it my self without taking the fairings off?

Why not get one of the bagster leather tank covers instead.
They are around the same price....

Don`t buy an £100 kit from a UK supplier.
I have a paint protection film kit on my Sprint ST from https://www.thetankslapper.biz/ cost around £40+ delivered from the USA in around a week. Seperate tank only 3-4 piece kits are avaialble from around £15+

This is the complete kit I got for my sprint
The items in red are 3M adhesive items, the rest, in grey are applied using a water/soap solution

Which means any of the non 3M items can be removed and re-applied without leaving any glue residue behind

I didn`t get the optional side case pieces btw

I don't want a leather tank cover!

I want to still be able to see my nice orange bike, plus, this is for every fairing and not just the tank.

Is that stuff as good as the Venture Shield stuff mate?

Ill get some orderd, get the little scratches done, then cover it, Im sure I will get my money back in resale value Smile

My new blade started showing sings of wear after a week or so, I wasnt happy either but I went to BMF show and ordered some film that came 2 days later it is superb. I buffed out the haze that had occured then applied the film. Make sure you spray your fingers as well as the film to avoid fingerprints.

I ordered just the left/right sides as I already had a tank protector installed and they knocked £10 or 12 off. think it was £30 something for the film, liquid and squegee.

The Tankslapper kit for my bike comes with the piece to fit around the petrol filler cap, so it will protect your tank if you use a tank bag, so you don`t need to use non slip protection etc

Typical rip off britain.
Why pay huge ££`s when you can get like for like kit direct from the USA at half price or less. I initially only wanted a tank film kit, however with shipping costs being the greater cost, it made sense to order the full kit for only a tiny bit more

likewise I was looking at at motion pro branded chain press tool, nothing fancy. just something I could put in my off road tool kit.
M & P want £40.99 + P&P for it.
I can get it from ebay USA for £16.95 delivered to my door.

You just need to do your homework and place a little faith in US suppliers abilities to deliver the goods.

Im not to keen on the idea of the 3M stuff, I don't want to leave glue everywhere if it ever needs to come off! Is it easy to get the glue off?

I also think I'd rarther get it from the UK rarther then waiting for a US delivery. Is the VentureShield as complete as the Tankslapper kit? Do they all include the same peices to apply? If the Tankslapper kit includes more protective peices I'll go for that, otherwise I will probably spend the extra and go or the VentureShield.

I don't know if you can see it here, but I've included a couple of pics, the first one being the VentureShield stuff and the second is the tankslapper stuff.

Does the kit you got include the side fairings, bottom fairings, tail, tank and headlight area of the bike? Is it literally the whole bike? I don't mind getting it from the US if its delivered quick enough! And if the 3M stuff is alot better then I don't mind buying the whole stuff in 3M, Iv'e just red on the site, as long as its removed with heat it doesn't leave residue, or am I better off with the normal kit rarther then the all 3M kit?

Ill probably go for the Tankslapper kit if it uncludes the same amount of protection, but on those pictures the VentureShield kit looks more complete?
