Hey guys,
I was kind of set on skipping a 50 and just going straight to a 125 when I'm 17 in August.
However I've had a look around and seeing 50's that aren't scooter-style is making me reconsider, but I don't want to look like a prick, or spend the money I would spend on a 125 on a 50.
Nevertheless, it would be nice to retain some independancy when travelling, and not having to rely on the 'rents for lifts.
I was pretty much set on a NSR125 when I hit 17, but looking around at the various MX50s, TZR50s, etc...they're not quite as repulsive.
Generally, I'm asking if it's worth the cash on a 50? Naturally, I guess it depends heavily on the resale.
One plus I guess is (I hope!) as soon as I hit 17, it would allow me to do say a 5 day intensitive and get my A2, as I would have the road experience and uhm, knowledge in gearing(?!) from the 50.
I kind of answered my own question. Nonetheless, I like other people's opinions . And whether or not you would kick me when(!) I crash instead of helping me up.
Oh, one last thing: Does your CBT at 16 on a geared 50, cover you for a geared 125?
Thank youuu! |

If it was me, I'd wait for a 125, but that's me. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Currently bikeless

If it was me, I'd get a 50. Independence, gain some road sense and maintenance skills, get a head start on cheaper insurance, get a feel for what style of bike you prefer, get your first crash out of the way on a cheap to fix bike, find out what bike gear is comfortable, start building a decent toolkit earlier, appreciate a 125 more after crawling around at 30mph
And start the biking memories earlier ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Thanks Been checking eBay for the last few days.
Are CPI a reliable brand?
On a plus note, my provisional came through today! Only 8days turnaround, even with the postal strikes. Not thaaat bad. And, even better, on the back it has A and B valid from my 17th birthday, so I don't need to send off and get them. Excellent.
I'm assuming the CBT will let me do 125's too, so I can go straight out on my 17th birthday without having to do anything? |
