In a recent thread on the forum some of the less intelligent members slated the dulcet tones of Barnsley folk and voted Scousers as having the worst accent in the UK. At least the Barnsley tykes and the Scouse gits dont need interpreters to be understood. Unlike these peeps! Laughing

Meh.

Non-story. Some one from Latvia doesn't understand the lingo, there's a surprise. Looks like it's just slang terms anyway, you get that type of thing all over the country. I don't suppose a weedgian could understand much of the slang used on London's streets.

Good advertising for the company though...

Thumbs Up

Hee Hee quite a funny story. I can understand how she might find it hard to understand but most of it is just slang or local colloquialisms.
Although I would say that Doric (North East Scotland) is harder to understand than Glaswegian Scots.
Still doesnt make it a bad accent that award goes to Barnsley Wink

Anyway the biggest part of that article is that she went to Lanark on holiday! WTF!

I'm not hugely well travelled, but I've not been anywhere in the UK were I've failed to understand what the indigents are saying.

That said, I've never been to Barnsley.

Thumbs Up

It's an experience that's for sure. Not only do you have to strain to understand them but you have to drop a good few IQ points as well Wink

You should try and understand what two people from either Buckie or Fraserburgh are talking about. "Diyekenfitahmensmin" Laughing

I did seriously have to translate what my Buckie supervisor was saying for the Middlesbrough Mechanic could understand what jobs needed done or what he was explaining Laughing

I find strong Glaswegian accents fine to understand, once I've 'tuned in' to it.

Lose concentration for just a second, and I'm lost!!! Laughing

I can get lost trying to listen to somebody from Edinburgh if I'm not paying attention "Yi Ken?". And I just hold any person in contempt that has a "Danny 'Pwopah Nawty' Dyer" Monkney accent Rolling Eyes

This guy has a proper Weegie accent, easy to understand. I think Glaswegian is the "Hardest" sounding accent closely followed by "Norn Eirland" Laughing
