Anyone else been slipping and sliding on their bike this week?

Especially on a morning on the way to work. Everyday this week in Leeds the roads have been slimy as fuck. Must be a mixture of wet roads, soggy leaves, and misty chilly mornings. About 3 days this week i've had the back wheel lock up for a good few metres, even with barely any pressure on the brake lever. Its kind of fun, but i still shit myself a bit.

I'm not sure if its me maybe riding a tad too quickly, or if the tyres on my sv are shite. They've got tread on them, but they still seem pretty useless if it's not bone dry.

Does anyone bother changing the tyres on their bike come winter time to some with better grip?

not been ridding but it will just be the roads aren't warm enough and all the stuff you said pretty much now were starting to hit the winter more now Sad

Its all part of the fun!

Coming out of a corner spinning the rear wheel up, while going a bit sideways, can't beat it Very Happy

You should be more gentle on your rear brake, most bikes rear brake will not lock up unless you really stamp on it! What tyres are you using? They will make a massive difference. I went from some Bridgstone BT015 to Diablo Corsa 3's and thier like night and day! Try some Michilen Pilot Power 2CT's, you won't even notice its wet or greasy, it will feel like your riding on a red hot road Smile

Don't get me wrong, it is sometimes fun when you're in no danger of hitting anything.

This morning i was probably going a few mph over the safest speed for the conditions, and the car infront decided to brake quite suddenly. I had a good distance between me and said car, but my rear wheel locked up. I had to take evasive action and kind of steer a bit to the right whilst skidding so i didn't plow into the back of her. I ended up by the side of her car. She gave me an amusing look Laughing

Probably the only benefit of owning a 4 stroke 125.

Sliding round the corners and using feet to stabilise then locking the front at a junction and scaring the shit out the 24 year old woman picking up her kids from school in her BMW X5

Which roads, as i thought they were holding up well this year.....

Given that my tyres are rubbish, in the damp.

Hardly any leaves as such on my commute through Leeds compared to the norm for Oct.

The roads have been a bit slimy around here too.

A couple of weeks ago the back end of my car went for a jolly on one of the roundabouts. A few days later going round the same roundabout on the bike, I remembered losing the back end of the car so cautiously went round only to have both wheels start to slide out - certainly makes your butt tweak and makes riding a little more interesting!!
