eBay and selling fees!!!??

So i'm looking to sell an expensive item for around a grand.....a Dslr/bits and a lens, the thing is though to sell through ebay i'm looking at £41.90 + paypal fees

Now is it just me or is this absolutely ridiculous??

Is there a better option??

Only way really is not to accept Paypal, cash/bank tranfer only so when it sells the payment can not be made instantly. Agree with the seller to tell Ebay that the sale did not go through so then you will have no final value fees to pay.

It is a lot but you are gaining access to a huge amount of people looking for your items. so £40 showing your ad to potentially thousand of customers, not that bad.

Paypal fees are 3.4% or something, you could say cheque only I suppose but paypal is so much easier.

If your selling something like that on ebay the £41 is not the major problem....

Your P+P will be.
Or getting the payment and then not a dispute starting.....

Personally i would only do pick up in person...... Or deliver in person and ensure that payment is either cash or dorect transfer to your bank account.

Fucking pissed, will not be using it again.

Thing is, had you sold it anywhere else with no fees could you have sold it for 725.97 or more?

I haven't sold many things on Ebay, But when I have done I always ended up with expensive fees for doing so, Some one told me to start the auction at 99p as you end up with less fees... (Not sure of the truth in this)
And of course get a friend to bid on the auction to make sure you don't end up with less than you wanted.

I had a selling bill of 11.40 and forgot about it. Never went back on ebay or checked my mail because my ebay account uses an old email address. Got a letter through the door saying i owe this 11.40 then the next day got about 4 letters all the same then the third day was a collection agencys letter wanting 60+11.40.

I paid ebay but didn't pay the collectors. It's now happened again for the price of £1.15. My account has been suspended i can't bid or sell on ebay for the sake of £1.15. There has to be a better online auction site than this.
