I ask some nonsense questions so far but I thought I'd introduce myself, and as I have interrupted into a few threads I thought it best to say Hi at least.

Passed two years ago, with no experience, in the middle of winter, it rained, then it snowed, the radio didn't work and the examiner decided to bring the car from Peterborough. Both got lost somehow but passed (should this be somehow..) with a stoked examiner giving me the thumbs up on my riding, I was well chuffed. Best day riding back with my instructor, is it me or suddenly do they speed up, could just keep up on the little er5!!!!! Started at Uni, studying Maths..jeeez I ask myself why..but love Engineering, previously I did a HNC in Mech Eng thought I'd branch out a bit.. degree level maths is a bit of a jump but I'll get there.. Any other students here? I'm thinking not, they'll all be studying hard or at the pub Wink

Now I've got some cash together, I had a few problems with sorts after my test, thats all sorted its time to get myself a bike, hate the car, the queues...the ride outs I'm missing. Got to ride before its too late

Love Wales, Snowdonia but thats another story.

I'm 27, ancient and living in Essex atm.

Looking at zzr600's, they seem to have everything or its the gsx600f but I'm not too crazy about the look of the suzuki, just finding a well priced local zzr is like finding the perfect girlfriend Laughing

..feck, I'm rambling complete bollocks again. Sorry but just say hi in a bit of a lengthy way Smile

Welcome!

I also wanted a ZZR600 but was told that my 6'2" frame would dwarf it. You could also consider a Fazer, you can get lowers for £150 from Powerbronze and it'll look less teapot-like than a GSXF.

There were some stunning ZZRs on Pistonheads when I was looking, some might still be there.

I'm 6 foot so I'm not sure whether the zzr is gona be right for me. Seen a few on ebay go for silly money and they are usually a trek too. Though recently a couple of them have been quite close and reasonable money but I usually get to them too late lol ...always the way!

Yeah I saw the fazer too, looks great..will have to track a few down and have a ride. Got a jacket but no helmet at the moment.

How do you regard the sharp ratings? As I've noticed they are s step in the right direction but apparently don't test some vital things..having £300 helmets being supposedly beaten by £100 helmets seems a little crazy.

Hello! Yep Im a student too lol Im in my second year of mental health nursing Smile
I recently passed my test and am saving up for a bike now as well, going to be so much cheaper compared to the £80+ fuel, park and ride etc lol Its just such a shame that winter is coming but will just have to look forward to next years rides!

Never actually got to see one myself, it was just advice I was given. I could be entirely wrong.

Best helmet is the one that's comfortable. Everything has to meet a minimum standard, so just get whatever that firstly fits the best, and secondly has the best price, and thirdly looks the best. I had a Shark, it was about £150, now I have an HJC, £65 reduced from £145 in Hein Gericke sale.

Some folks here will say that the SHARP ratings are nonsense as the people who did it all had no idea how to test nor how to collate the data they collected. *shrugs*

I would imagine the £300 lid would be lighter and more comfortable than the £100 lid at the end of the day. (Going from experience).
