tomtom rider v2 - stuck on boot screen (BSOD)

Hi All

My rider v2 recently spazed out, rebooted itself and now I cant turn it off or do anything with it.

I bought a new SD card for it thinking that might fix it but no joy.
Nothing is detected when I connect it to the computer.

I have tried various combinations of plugging in power/usb/holding reset button

but no joy.

this is the screen it's stuck on...

Anyone had the same issue?

googling I cant find rider specific issues but the same thing on other tomtom's. but all resolutions i have found involve connecting it to a computer and performing various resets/upgrades etc.

It is out of warranty now so tomtom will be of no help Sad

thats the diagnositcs screen youve got there.
does it go right back to that if you press the reset button on the bottom then turn it on again?

press the reset button > reboots and shows that again.

I cant turn it off or on only reset it

thats odd. reset should only turn it off not reboot it
leave it on until the battery goes flat then when it will no longer turn on connect it to your computer and charge it. then turn it on and it should connect to the PC. if it does then try an update through TomTom HOME.

the reset on a friends button reboots it doesnt turn it off so assume that is right.

battery just went dead, plugged it in (power and USB) same thing, just goes straight to that screen Sad

Okay try one / all of the following:

1) holding down on/off switch.
2) pushing the reset button (you'll need a pin / paperclip)
3) plug into your pc via the USB connector and just leave if for 10 minutes, then try the following.
4) if all above fails open it up* and take the battery out leave for a couple of mins then reattch battery, put together and see if works then.
5) Post here https://www.yourtomtom.com/forum/ I bet they'll be able to sort it

*This will require special screwdriver thing as the rear screws are set about an inch down a small hole so a socket attachment will not reach them - I have one if you want to borrow (can post or am in Brighton) or I'll try to find on the internet where I got it if you want to buy one.

My first tomtom for the cage did this. I just took it back to argos and got a new one!

your powerbutton is stuck..
the screen you see appears when you keep the power button pressed
