Anyone here train in MMA?
I had my first class today, and I've never done any grappling before. We got straight into it and I'm loving it already!
In sparring against another beginner I actually pulled off a triangle choke and got him to tap out, but then he guilotine choked me next round. (I guess he had SOME experience as opposed to none)
A lot better than the light contact kickboxing I tried on Tuesday... 150 people in one gym at the same time; how serious can it be Confused

The teachers seem really good, and at 2 quid per 2 hour session you can't really go wrong Thumbs Up

TBH I did have some issues with someone being that close to my crotch, but this is only a problem when learning a technique. When sparring you really don't think about it cause you're too busy trying to keep your airway open Laughing

I'd like to start MMA but there is nothing local to me. I live in Biggin Hill, and I cant seem to find much in the way of decent martial arts around this area.

Loughborough isn't exactly a big place either... These classes aren't really official. The trainer rents the gym for the session, and depending how many turn up we split the costs. He teaches for free which I find pretty awesome Very Happy

^^ Exactly how i used to run my classes - i taught because i love to.
Sadly, a torn hamstring and dislocated ribs have kept me out for ages , and now my belly is swelling to epic proportions because i still have the appetite i had when i was training.

I train MMA, BJJ, Wrestling and used to do a fair bit of Muay Thai. Loads of really good quality instructors in Bristol, including Pedro Bessa who is also a really sound bloke. I do fancy doing a bit of Boxing nowdays as the classes are really cheap and there is plenty thats local to me.

My girlfriend will be over from wednesday to sunday so she can "take care of me" after. Haven't seen her for a month!
