lo all!!! my first post here and would like to say hi to all the members. so here is my question:

is it worth buying a 400-600cc bike and having it restricted? or should i just get a 125?

A restricted bike is 33bhp.

A 125 generally is less than 33bhp.

So not really a logical question.

Restricting something bigger vs. buying something that's 33bhp standard, now that's a logical question.

lol what i meant was its it better to get a bigger bike and have it restricted that to buy a 125 thats unrestricted, i mean would the extra money in the bike and insurance pay off on a 400?

But if you're allowed 33bhp, wouldn't you want 33bhp?

All depends what you intend to use this bike for really... if you're just commuting a 125 may be fine. If you're doing motorway miles, I'd imagine you want something bigger.

Go with the bigger bike if you can afford it. 125's, especially the shit hot ones are a rip off!

Welcome to the forum mate,

I personally would go for the bigger cc bike, however do remember most insurance companies won't take into account restriction kits etc... e.g. a 33bhp R6 will cost a lot more than a 33bhp gs500.

Yer, 125 are nothing compared to a good 400 sports bike...Or even a good bigger cc 4 stroke.

125 are cheaply made, slower, dont feel as nice to ride, are more hassle in the way of re-builds, dont look as nice, are unreliably, dont sound as nice, they are smokey, and smelly, you wont get the street cred/respect,

the list goes on. i say if you can afford a bigger cc 4 stoke, with insurance do it. It worth it in the long run. A bigger cc 4 stroke will last you ages. People genrally get shot of 125s relatively much quicker.

Hi

Power is torque x rpm, so yes you will loose torque. However it is likely that you will only significently loose torque at higher revs.
