Hi guys,
Via my own stupidity this time I have managed to destroy something else, I let my bike run too low on oil and now there's a nasty knocking sound from the bottom of the engine
As of monday I am promoted at work, so with a little extra money coming in I am going to try and get a loan for 2000 and get myself a bike thats going to last.
The 2k will have to include the raise in my insurance aswell, so im looking for a bike around the 1700 mark I think.
I currently do about 80 miles 5 days of every week, most of which are on motorways, so preferably the bike will be 600cc plus, and have a fairing, other than that im open minded.
What are your recommendations for a bike?
Im posting from work so i'll try and get on again when I can, shouldn't /really/ be on the net at work
Thanks

CBR600? Very reliable though may be a bit pricey in consumables for a 400 mile a week commute unless you have a lot of restraint ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Is there a lot of town riding before/after the motorway miles?
Get a TT600 and join the elusive cool-kids gang who are so cool we get mocked for buying TT600s. Everyone else is going to say CBR600f or SV650s. (EDIT: Ha, in the time it took me to write this post, 2 people suggested the CBR600f, I am king)
Having written that sentence and not wanting to change it, I know of a few people with the semi-faired Fazer 600 who swear by them for all situations of road riding, and you can pick one up for much cheaper than the above three if you look hard enough. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper. |

ZZR600...
It's super basic and mostly idiot proof, mine cost me a mere 130 quid in the year I owned it, and that included a service. Think of it like a CBR600F or Thundercat but a bit more aimed at just munching miles up, it's utterly low tech but it's superbly refined plus it's still got that trademark Kawasaki IL4 top end lunge. It's a bit plumper and not as pretty as a CBR600F, but it's a fair amount cheaper to own, not to mention it's pipe and slippers image tends to mean they are less likely to be thrashed and knackered.
Great bikes imho ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

Close to us, and I reckon you could get that if you offered 1700.
Pretty bulletproof, just keep an eye on oil levels they can burn it but not normally this early on in milage. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Still riding the revere, if I ride over 60mph I cant hear the knocking over the wind noise, ignorance is bliss Either way it's not going to last long as it is, making lots of bad vibrations, gladly I have breakdown cover for when it does go
Oil was a stupid thing, feel like a real idiot, wont be making that mistake again!
There is another option which kind of makes sence, my GPZ is still in my garden, I could probably get it back on the road for a few hundred quid, I just dont have any faith in it reliability wise, i've wanted to get a decent bike sorted for a while now so this seems like the right time to do it.
What are people's opinions on late shape VFR750's and RF900's?CBR600 and ZZR600 are added to my list to look in to
Ill check the TDM on my lunch
