The x clamps aint tight enough to hold the heatsink onto the processors, and the processors onto the motherboard.

So when it heats up, the motherboard bends by a tiny fraction, and the cold welds on the GPU break...

If this don't fix it, it's a microsoft job.

you can buy new screws for the board, mines should be here tomorrow.

Nice one, that's far more effort than I could be bothered to put in to fixing an xbox. The day I don't have to fix PC's even will be a very happy day for me.

I wonder if using the xbox without the plastic case on, and possibly an extra fan on the heat sinks would solve the overheating issue. I've run several computers for several years without a case... just a PSU and a mess of cables. Without a case I've never ever had an overheating issue.

Have you got some AS5 compund for your chips? and if those coins where in their its been repaired like shit and wouldnt surprise me that after you've rebaked your box it wont work propperly but you never know, could well work... if you repair it the propper way and mod the cooling.

When your board is screwed into the case, the case actually push's the Xclamp points which in turn takes pressure off the GPU/CPU.

They need to be removed and replaced with bolts with a very slim head on them so the same thing doesn't happen again, I always go bolt, spring washer, board, nylon washer, metal washer, heatsink.

Yeah, the only reason i'm doing this is because when i took the faceplate off, the warranty sticker had already been peeled off...

otherwise it'd be shipped off to germany.

Would it get on your tits if I told you that you can buy the warranty seals from eBay and other shops for around 7 quid?

Not really.
