Hi. Myself and my partner are planning a 3 week trip next year (Croatia, Austria, and Italy). In Austria and Italy, we'll be travelling by rail. But are looking to hire a motorbike for Croatia. Ideally we'd like to fly into Dubrovnik at the start of the holiday, and ride North. The problem is that we'd need to be able to drop off at a different location than we pick up. Does anyone know of any cheap companies that do this?

No I don't but I'd find it very unlikely if you'll find a company who'll do what you want and if you do it certainly wouldn't be in any way cheap. The bigger car hire companies allow one way rentals but only because they have multiple locations and they still charge you quite a chunk for it. I can't imagine there being any bike hire companies with more than one location so I doubt they would even offer it unless it was via special arrangement and they went to collect the bike from somewhere, that would cost you a lot though.

Have you thought about riding?

I managed to do 3500miles to Monaco, split and back to Norwich in 16days and didn't feel rushed. You would be able to do your trip quite comfortably in the time you have.

P.S i know its not what you asked about.

She could always fly the main distances while you ride them and then go on the back of the bike when you cross between Italy and Austria. It's only a 3 day ride down to Croatia really.

We've got the plan sorted now anyway. We're flying into Dubrovnik, and hiring a bike from there, then spending a few days around Croatia on the bike, then dropping back it off in Dubrovnik before getting a ferry across to Italy to continue the trip on rail.

Flights all booked! - can't wait! Smile

Have you considered Motorail? , it still exists in Europe you have to get on a ferry to France though.

BMW man did this and will go to Dubrovnik in 2010,

I discovered (After I had ridden there) it was possible to go from Belgium to Ankara for £200 on a sleeper train.
