Have car prices gone up again

Yeah, typical if they have, i just lost a huge amount of money when selling an MR2 & might as well of gave away my Mk3 GTI away for free for what it sold for because of this & now a few months later, they're back up.

Now i'm being told that second hand car prices are back up. Which not only sucks for the above but it also sucks because the car i'm going to buy has increased in price i'm told, so won't find a decent example for under £3,000. Yet i'm seeing a few for under £3k but now i'm paranoid it will be a heap of crap with lots of future problems.

Can someone put my mind at ease & tell me i can find a decent Mk4 Golf turbo for £3,000.

MK4 turbo for less the 3k will be pants, and they are expensive cars to repair with lots on common problems. Should of kept the MK3, what about Ibiza turbo 3k would get you alot more SEAT then VW.

Even an early 1999/2000? There's noway to gauge a price range it seems as i'm seeing them going anywhere from £2,500 upwards.

Hated the Mk3, just felt like an old boat compared to my Mk4. I'm very picky so for my price range, the Golf is the only thing i like.

You might find a good one if you look round, took ages to my sisters, a 51 plate black 3 door 60k a few nice optioms £4900 and we lookded at loads of rubbish before that. I used to work at a VW specailist and almost everyone I worked with had a 20v, good cars but expensive parts.

Second hand car prices are up quite significantly on last year with the price of a family saloon up an average of £600 on last year.

The main contributing factor to this cause is the scrappage scheme so the cars that would be going on 2nd hand forecourts are being sent in, crushed and replaced with newer swankier cars.

Only cars worth less than 2grand are disappearing thanks to the scrappage scheme, I doubt it has much affect on cars worth over 2grand. Prices are more likely rising as people have started spending a bit more recently whereas earlier this year nobody wanted to spend anything.

I think they are going up now as many can't get finance or afford it so the dealers and private ads can charge a premium for a decent 2nd hand car.

A dealer i went to last week said he can't get his hands on 2nd hands fast enough and is paying big trade in and buy prices to keep the forecourt full, sold 9 fiestas in 1500-3k mark in 2 days and thats a small village dealer.

If its known for good fuel consumption and reliability you can charge a fair whack , i paid £600 for my 94 Civic in Jan and now got people at work on about going up to £1200 if i sold it to them as its never let me down and miserly on fuel .

I am looking at upgrading and was considering it last few days and thought no i'll keep it for now got a bargain there , then today i went out to where its parked and someone has crumpled the drivers side wing completely and left the scene , so god knows what i'd get for it now so got to fix it and keep it.
