was reading "bike" this month and read the article about the RC4, and was wondering if the people of BCF would buy one if it was made for the road. or would people only want it as a track bike?

Specs as it currently stands:
450cc
61.1bhp @9500rpm
36lb.ft@7500rpm
11,800rpm redline
110kg's
15l fuel tank
43mm WP forks
Brembo radial 4 piston brakes
320mm discs

'fraid i can't find any new pics bar the 690 engined one or other peoples ideas.

so BCF would you buy one?

aye but this is the thing supermono-esque bikes were tried before (szr600) with (i think) favourable reviews but just didn't sell. I'm wondering if the ethos/conditions have changed that people would now spend their cash on one.

it'll have not far off 600 performance, light, nimble, and cheap to run/tax etc, could take off with this climate.

Love it, don't believe the 78bhp claim though. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2008/February-1-3/11-17/feb1308ktmrc4leakedpictures/?&R=EPI-98562

that's the old 690 engine/framed one. new one is a 250 2T racebike frame with a 450 motocross engine in it. will try and scan the article tomorrow.

Well, up until now I wanted the SZR, but comparing the weight and power of that bike makes the SZR look like an MT-03.

The 450 engine is going to need a fair bit of maitenance I'd have thought. 690 engine is a bit more 'road biased' with 3000 mile service intervals, though that's making 60hp or so.

Same, think it'll be along the lines of a full power SXV550 if the KTM is to be pushing 60ish bhp.

Should be interesting.

To the posters above - the images shown earlier are not a true representation of the bike - I wouldn't like it otherwise. The one featured in Bike magazine has lines more akin to a Motogp/RS250 hybrid - still sharp, but with better lines.

If Dave doesn't post up a photo, I'll scan one in.

I nearly bought an RC8 over my Blade, very nice bike!

If the RC4 is anything like it, then it will be very good. It handled very well, the WP Suspension is excellent, loads of adjustability on it, the brakes were good, and the low down grunt was awesome. I went for the blade in the end because I didn't like the gearbox on the RC8, it felt a bit notchy, and Im not a massive fan of that huge front light, very nice bikes though!

Looks nice.

I remember when a few guys stuck stuck an SXV 550 lump in an RS250, I wish Aprilia had taken that idea and done something with it...

Generally...

I'm not keen on KTM sportsbikes, I love the look of (and have owned) an LC4 but in reality, they are hugely uncomfortable and completely nickable.

Piles anyone?
