 |
|
I know you probably hear this millions of times but I'm new here. I passed my mod1 test the second time after failing the first time as the examiner thought my emergency stop wasn't good enough, I don't know what he expected of the poor little drum brakes anyway the cbr125 killed it
I've been 17 about 2 months now, I need to do my mod2 test asap, I have had some training I know what needs to be done to pass 'I think'.
I just wanted some advice off some guys who have actually been there and passed the test and whether you have any tips to share.
Thanks |

I'm assuming from your post you aren't planning on taking any training?
Basically, lifesave before you make any manouvre, change lane etc, check your mirrors when changing speed (speed limits). Ride carefully but don't be overcautious.
Look out for road markings, box junctions, lane markings etc. Should be simple.
Hope this helps |

Apart from observations,
Look out for road markings/signs. You will notice there are hundreds of them in a 1 mile trip. They tell you pretty much everything you need to do.
While checking your mirrors, don't look at your mirrors. Keep your eyes on the road, just move your head to the relevant direction unless you are not changing lanes.

Well done for passing module one, I was second attempt too lol
For module 2:
*Do lots of lifesavers- especially before moving off, leaving a roundabout, changing speed eg 30- national speed limit
*Think about road positioning,
*Always make sure you turn the indicator off,
*Watch your speed, but dont go too slow,
*On roundabouts and junctions, dont be too cautious (you need to be seen to be making progress) but dont be an idiot lol if its clear, go but if you are going to cause anyone to slow down, dont lol
*Know the road ahead by looking at road signs
*Dont go too close to cars parked or waiting at a junction, leave a safe distance in case a door opens or they roll back
*Lastly, relax and enjoy!
Good luck!

No heroic overtakes ok? I got shouted at in a lesson for attempting once ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

Lol at the heroic overtakes, I was encourage by an my instructor to overtake on the CG I was riding. I didn't think it would make it, all I heard was 'Overtake this lorry before I loose the will to live' and I wasn't going slow I even had to slow down for the guy on the 500 to catch back up |

When I was pulling off from a hill start, I did them both sides. But if I am pulling away at traffic lights, I only checked over my right shoulder and nothing was said so I presume it was ok lol I only got one minor, which was for not keeping to the 40% line on a roundabout. lol.
Another thing is its best not to filter really, at more of a chance that something will go wrong compared to sitting patiently- plus waiting in traffic makes the time go by better |

I was taught to ride on the 40% line, which is basically the 40% part of your side of the road if that makes sense? Its so your not going to get constantly overtaken by sticking next to the ditch but your not riding in all the grimey stuff in the centre of the road either |

Ohh I see now, I wasn't taught this, I was told in the centre on test by my instructor.
When I ride by myself I just move over the road to get maximum view around bends. I.e. going around a right hand bend, I stay a couple of feet from the side of the road, and on a left hand bend a few feet from the white line |

What you've described there is very normal, that is how you should take corners because of the nature of a bike leaning and hence becoming "wider". It's somewhat of a racing line for corners.
On the road though the 40% sounds like a good idea. I try to stick to the centre of the road but I'm sure I'm normally somewhere between 40% and 60% - where ever I feel like really ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
