Just wondering if i got caught out today, here`s the scenario:.

Two way street with fixed speed camera on right hand side of road.Just past the fixed speed camera, same side of the road, there`s a layby and a scamera van is parked there. (so camera van is clocking vehicles from behind as they pass through the zone).

i`m on the opposite side of the road to the van and approaching the controlled zone, and riding over the limit too Embarassed .....so my question is...is the van only clocking the vehicles on HIS side...or is he getting BOTH sides at the same time.

if he IS doing both sides of the road he wouldnt get my reg anyway coz i was approaching head on...but he wouldve seen i was speeding......so what do you think?Am i safe?what can happen?did he clock me?

I have no idea.

Just wait and see if you get a letter. Worrying changes nothing now.

What was your indicated speed at the time. If it was only say 35 in a 30, then chaces are you were only doing a real 30-32 so would be unlikely to get prosecuted. If you were doing an indicated 40+ then it's a little more dodgey. Thumbs Up

Definately over 40 considering how quick my bike accelerates.I`d just nailed it from a standing start at a crossroads but didnt actually look at the speedo...was well into 2nd gear though.
I`d guess that i hit about 60,maybe a touch more, before i noticed a car flashing me like crazy to slow down and then spotting the van and slamming the anchors on. Confused

Good chance you won't be done.
They can radar you from the front, across the lanes, then get your number plate as you go past.
But that'd mean they have to actually turn around for a start, which is quite a lot of work for someone paid to squeeze a trigger and move their arm a few cm either way, so they'd have to be in a pretty bad mood to go to all the effort Smile.

cheers G.
Will have to keep my fingers crossed then.
Tossers....i even went back on foot later and walked past the back of the van for a nosey.Shady copper was sat there and he smiled at me all freindly-like.......so i just rolled my eyes, gave him a look of contempt and walked away. Very Happy

I worried I'd been digi-shafted by the speed taxers a couple of months back. I reckon I was doing about 65 (indicated 71) JUST in a 50 on a dual carriageway. I looked up from the road after a curve, saw it facing me, then thought, ah well, it's already got me... I'll carry on. And to date, nothing has arrived on my doormat. I think G, with his head turny roundy suggestion, might be spot on there.

They have to send it within 14 days. They don't have to prove it though.
