Right this isnt a cock stroking thread just a general enquiry, a bloke down the road said to me today that he wants to have a bit of a race in his car, Now heres the weird bit.

Its a 58 plate BMW 325i/330i (not sure which 1) estate now this bit confuses me as he rides bikes but not road bikes.

Is there anything fantabulous about these modern BMW's from what i gather its standard but the bloke was so excited in informing me it has a "Sport" button Neutral

Iv jizzed over plenty of modern audi's and mercs and the most exotic was a Rari 360 which i was ahead of by a decent distance upto 150 odd.

So is there something i should be even slightly concerned about because google says 0-60 in these beemers is like 6.3 seconds which is like double my bike.

So come on bcf pass me some of your spare time with some info on these Bavarian murder weapons.

It will be much easier for him to put his BMW 0-60mph in a time similar to that on the interwebs than it will be for you on your bike, I'm sure he's relying on that as a major factor.

Other than that, go cane him one. Thumbs Up.

Please give him a good spanking! People who don't know sports bikes often assume that a 600 is half the speed of a 1000...

He's probably banking on you losing it on the first wet, leafy corner.

Well he said we should go to what is called telegraph road or used to be anyway, And it doesnt look like he likes corners.

Iv got family that live near there and i can usually get flat out before the crossroads, So im thinking his car is tuned to bollocks but if its not arent the big bmws restricted to 155mph ?

Hi

Looks like about 1.5 miles long. Suspect the 155mph restrictor is easy enough to remove and suspect on top speed he will be quicker by quite a margin. You will leave him on acceleration and probably cover the first 1/4 mile in a couple of seconds less, although suspect neither of you will manage to get that close to the road test figures (he might if it has a launch control system). Comes down to whether you are far enough in front at the start to overcome his top end advantage.

Just hope nobody crosses the cross roads Shocked .

All the best

Keith

Watch he is not trying to set you up, into a speed trap or calling the coppers first.

He could very well have a sport button, it just means that in his automatic it will rev out instead of short shifting...

My 330i was about as quick as a DRZ400 upto 90ish where the DRZ tops out.

However, have 'raced' a ZX636, and speeds over 120mph the bike couldn't keep up very well and I managed quite a few very slow overtakes at 140+.

In a straight line, no traffic drag race to 150mph you will kick his ass.
