Been nearly wiped out by a fecking bus? Evil or Very Mad

Was on my way to work yesterday night, coming through Coxhoe high street doing the 30mph limit, when without indicating, this bloody bus just pulls out,so me and the drivers behind me had to slam the brakes on to avoid going through the back window. They don't give a fuck, just coz they're bigger than everyone else they think they own the road.

Sorryy,rant over Laughing

buses are awful. Just stay clear of them. If you are going past one, accelerate to get past asap before it writes you and your bike off then find out the driver was a polish guy with no papers.

Yes, buses are the personal transport of Satan, and should be burned. Similar situation to yours, except instead of pulling out in front of me, he pulled out into the side of me Evil or Very Mad a few choice words were thrown his way and then I buggered off to college.

I suppose all you can do is expect them to do something twattish, like pull out without indicating, or stop suddenly Confused

Laughing Now that would be hilarious to see someone do that, especially in morning rush hour and the bus is full to the brim of passengers... I would pay good money! Laughing

Works best on black cabs because it locks the handbrake on.

I hit a bus once. It was fun. It drove off, I did ring the company with the number of the bus and they said there wasn't a mark, so at least no claim. Just a broken bike Smile

I hate buses. I was going round a roundabout and a bus pulled out on me but he cut straight over both lanes so I had no where to go. I just had to squeeze down the side of him and go around again. They just think because they are bigger they can do what ever they want.

I suggest someone makes a bus sized motorbike.

Constantly. My route to work takes me through Cardiff city centre which is choked with buses, and my general experience is that Cardiff Bus drivers are all twats and I show them absolutely no respect in return. The Stagecoach drivers, meanwhile, are a lot more courteous and considerate and so I will happily let them out etc etc.

Most recently they stayed in their bus lane coming up towards Wood Street even though there was a sign saying that as soon as they turned right, their lane was going to end and they'd have to merge with ours.

I went headfirst into one at 80 mph ,the bike lodged under the drivers window, and i (luckily) slid past on his left.
That happened when i was 20,and kept me away from bikes for 15 years, but it was a good lesson because now i`m a seriously careful and safe rider.

I was hit by a belgian bus from behind on business once - in a crappy rental meriva. Despite being hit from behind I got the blame as I didn't fill in one of the accident forms correctly.

This morning I had to drop anchor (in the car) after a buss pulled out in front of me on a mini roundabout. I beeped at him and he just stopped on the roundabout blocking my exit cue exchange of wanker signs until he drove off.

Around here they used to have signs like this...
https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2638/3761753366_7fb997c425.jpg
So I looked it up and now Rule 198 is about signal controlled pedestrian crossings and says
Highway Code wrote:
Give way to anyone still crossing after the signal for vehicles has changed to green. This advice applies to all crossings.
Found old wording on this site
Quote:
"198. Buses, coaches and trams. Give priority to these vehicles when you can do so safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. Look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road."

So I guess it's changed number or has been removed (I can't find it on the direct.gov.uk highway code site, maybe you can Confused)

Would appears to give bus drivers the right just to pull out whenever they feel like it with impunity Rolling Eyes

You went to all that effort to make a Godzilla and alien infested journey to work. But you left all the vehicles the same colour. Tut tut.

having to give way to buses is fair enough but busses pulling out whilst you are still along side is another thing altogether.

The amount of times buses have pulled out or changed lanes whilst I have been along side is ridiculous, they seem unable to hear your horn either and when you pull up next to them to give them some grief they suddenly develop neck trouble that stops them looking right.
