How fast do 125's really go ?

lately i have heard alot of claims of 125's doing 100+mph, a lad near wear i work claims hes had 110mph out of his ktm 125 sx, another lad says his aprillia sm 125 does 130mph and i know someone with an aprillia rs125 claiming 127mph flatout, do these really go that fast and if they do why does my zzr 400 only have 120mph on the clocks

100mph max on a very good RS125 or Mito. No faster.

Maybe his speedometer over reads by 27mph, but I'd be more inclined to believe that it is bullshit.

Most 125s do far less than that but I guess you have been taking to the lucky guys, they also had peds that did 80.

2t 125's can do 110mph with every basic mod, e.g. exhaust, carb etc

110mph requires a lot more power than 100mph.
A KTM 125 has the possibility to go pretty fast as they should make around 35hp as stock I believe; however in the standard dirt-frame air resistance is considerably worse.

my nsr will touch around 95 and on a good day 95-100 but most bikes fail do to do over 90-95 everyone claims 110-125 etc but its crap, unless you tune the hell out of it and race prep it my dads rs 125 did do about 105-110 on a good day but as i said it wasn't anything close to standard

im not saying that i believe them just im sick of hearing how fast they think there bikes are, i find there storys very funny sumtimes though for example, the kid with the ktm CLAIMS he kept up with a hayabusa off the mark and the bloke on the hayabusa and i quote 'was proper ripping it' according to him lol

My old CG used to pull 120mph all day long. had a power band in every gear. pink and red ones if i remember rightly. i also used to run it on my mums old cooking oil from the sunday roast!

Would a bigger rear sprocket make a rs125 do 110mph?

I guess you will need 45bhp to reach 110. (just a guess)

They were first made in 99 mate, And even the earlier ones pre restriction didn't do much over 200MPH.

I got 103mph indicated on 16-40 sprockets (like for 11kW restricted bike) and I was redlining it.. I haven't tested it with 17-40 really (FP).
