 |

How interchangeable are rear shocks? Assuming from the same manufacturer. I know a lot of SV owners tend to swap and change shocks from other bikes.
I want to freshen up my rear (waits for jokes). Basically my standard shock has covered 30k and has an uprated spring (possibly k tech) which is way too hard for my weight. There may as well be a brick in its place.
Ive been looking at newish GSXR1000 (k7 k8) shocks which can be picked up for around £100.
Id love to get a purpose built hagon of something similar but afraid the funds dont stretch that far.
So as long as the mounting width at top and bottom are the same and the bolt holes the same diameter could I just bolt one in place?
Any experiences with this or similar would be good to hear

ZX6R - (2000) I think the usual upgrades for sv's are zx6r, zx10r and gsxr1000 shocks so thinking there must be some common sizing with these models |

True, just a bit skeptical as to how 'tuneable' a standard shock and spring are. Could be worth a bash at less than a £100 though

I think pretty much any shock can be modified to fit if it doesnt already.
For example, i replaced the standard shock in my cagiva mito that had a saddle and eyelet fitment for a ducati 916 biposto rear shock with 2 eyelets. All i needed to do was make a bracket and weld it on. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!
